    Map reset? HELL NO.

Seriously though... I'm relatively new, and so are my base mates... We joined after the last world reset and are just now starting to get good shit. Definitely don't want to start over, and I probably wont. In the event of a world reset at least right now, I will likely leave.

Hmmm... It seems that a few CC Peripherals never updated as well (Inventory manager, and a few others).

also, why do people have to stick to 2 or 3 mods? i did ic2&addons as main, but when i was done with that, i moved on to bees, forestry farms, thaumcraft, and a few others... i have seen vanilla servers go for longer than 10 months, with no problems whatsoever. there is a lot more to do here than in vanilla, i just don't see a need to do anything other than update 1.4.7 mods to the final verions. maybe (this is very unlikely and people probably wont like it) we could do a total reset and stay in 1.4.7 with all the final versions and be happy like that. i would be totally up for that.

Surely we have a few developers in the community besides SK that could get their hands on the code for these non-updated mods and update them, or create functional replacements. That of course would be a last-resort effort if there was no update or existing alternative.

It's not just the mods, but Minecraft itself has some big changes that I think we'll enjoy upgrading to. There's rarely a reason not to upgrade to a new major version of Minecraft.

And some key mods that are holding us back, RedPower for example, do not allow you to go in and change their code without permission.

we have hoppers, comparators, "droppers" , we can do daylight sensors with CC, i guarantee it. blocks of redstone are useless with AE and are ugly as hell, we don't need netherquartz since we already have these things, trapped chests are useless because we can't make traps, weighted pressure plates are not needed for the same reason. 1.5 is pointless.

When you put it that way... I have to agree.

As for daylight sensors - there is a daylight sensor block already. Cant think of the ID off the top of my head, but I believe it's a RP2 block.

There's a bunch more changes in 1.5 with mods thou that can't be emulated now. Not to mention performance improvements. Why would we reset with an obsolete version of Minecraft when we can update with little to no problems?

At first I didn't really want a reset, but now I kind of do. Probably because I stopped playing for a while, and now everyone is way ahead of me, and I want to start out equal again. Of course, everyone usually excels past me in the game within the first day, so that might not be a very good reason.

What do you mean? Where in the rules does it say this?

No. He says that because PvP is disabled. So the making of "traps" would be greatly frowned upon, thus the trapped chest is useless.

To offer a slightly different perspective: I've yet to play on a (non-vanilla) server without RP2. Thus I fully welcome this experiment!

Minefactory Reloaded does the rednet logic, and would probably help with the lag: (quote sniped from the official thread)
About the reset: go for it - while we all like to sit on piles of shiny dust and wasting free energy from ultimate solars because we can't possibly find any use for it (GT nonupgradable machines, I'm looking at you), it would give me something new to do in MC.

Well, some of us don't know what it's like to sit on piles of shiny dust and waste free energy from ultimate solars because we can't find any use for it because we haven't reached that point in the game yet. To be quite frank, most of us that aren't there yet would like to get there rather than losing everything in a reset because a few people are bored.

From what I gather, you are maybe 2 or 3 weeks into this server. So while you spend a grand total of > 3 months to "get up to par," the rest of the SKCraft community will get very bored, setup their own servers because it'll be more fun, and then stop caring about this server. Now, alternatively, we could all just reset right now, removing eloraam's RP2 in favor of MineFactory Reloaded and Railcraft, and ensure that everyone who frequents the server right now has the ability to play as they wish. I personally would REALLY like for MFR to be added. (psst: No-upkeep crop/tree farms!)

EDIT: Then I can relocate my base to an area of the world that is more conducive to building, and we can get rid of inactive player's (usually) ugly bases.

Well I've been here for about 2-3 months, and I have a few projects I'd like to have completed. Couldn't we just remove inactive player's bases without resetting the whole map? Personally I'd be more ok with a reset sometime in July or August, because that's later into the year and allows the map to get a really good run of time. Also I can sympathize with players who are only mid game, being that they could get to the end game sooner and enjoy it for a while. If people that want a reset do not get it, just find some open space on the map and take nothing with you, then begin anew.

    You gather wrong...

I'm about 2 months in to the server. And for the record, it's not about "getting up to par" with the community. It's about having fun, and to be honest, it's just not fun to be making progress on a game and then have to start all over from the beginning, ESPECIALLY without a really good reason (sorry, your boredom is NOT a good reason).

I'm going to kind of play Devil's advocate here for a moment: I do like the idea of replacing the excessively derpy RP2 and adding in features discussed, and the only way I see those being incorporated properly would be a reset (otherwise people's bases would end up getting destroyed, at which point you might as well have gone ahead and reset). I think a reset *MIGHT* be avoidable setting these up, but I've not read enough in to the technical aspects of these to know for sure.

Personally: I like the server as it is. I see no reason right now to reset. Just because a few people are talking about being bored isn't a good reason for a reset. There are plenty of players who have reached endgame level and are (at least as far as I can tell) far from bored and enjoying themselves.

Just as Leo suggested - If you're that bored and can find nothing to do, dump your inventory in your ME, and go start new somewhere (just remember some coalcoke to buy a couple chunks of land). Hell, you could unclaim your land and tell everyone to go raid it if you wanted so you'd be forced to start over.

Regardless, I strongly oppose a reset.

Also wanted to add this to the discussion as well, but if people get bored and create their own servers, then good luck, but for me the main reasons I come here is, I like the dynamics of the server, the more equality of player and mod, the freedom of people speaking their minds, and the more adult things and conversations that happen here. I hope most of those server creators come back and enjoy the community here once in a while too.
