Builds and bases are not the same thing. The last time there was talk of saving builds after a reset, it was made clear that no valuable materials would be copied. That would be unfair to everyone starting from scratch. A full reset is going to happen sooner or later. Expecting a map to survive more than six or eight months on a industrial server like ours would be unrealistic.
Honestly I'm indifferent on a reset, I liked building up to where I am now doing it again wouldn't be that bad.
Yea, it'd take awhile to import everyone's base and have it not blend in well with the surrounding terrain Sure it will. But, I'm pretty sure that I speak for most when I say we'd rather it be later. We're only 2-3mo into the reset... that's just wayy too short. If you're getting bored glitch than that means you either have too much time on your hands or aren't thinking of/ran out of ideas for other projects The nice (and also bad) thing about Minecraft is that it's an endless game even when you think you've reached the endgame.
I want a reset but at the same time, I don't. I hate having to start ALL over but I understand the need too. Once you have everything in the game...the game gets boring. It's the same thing for any game. Skyrim, WoW, GTA, etc etc. Having a reset done is a good thing but last I heard, the server was reset in like January so no need for a FULL reset. Just reset the nether world and mining world since there is no one living there. That's easy enough to do with hardly ANY complaints. Don't get me wrong. Complaints will be there but not as much as wiping the entire server. As a side note...I love how people stole my Dragon Egg Signature.... >.< (This is also a response to a post shields made)
That's right. But even so, that's not even half a year yet. I think that's a little short for the life of a MC SMP map. To be honest, I'm actually with cromy and what he said. Try and port the world over to 1.5.1, and in turn, give a general consensus that the port to 1.5 might break the world. Because as most have said, only the nether really needs a reset for 1.5 .
It was reset in the middle of January around the 15th. The world's likely going to transfer fine. Not much changed.
I would like a reset of the map. Starting fresh would be nice at this point. Some new mods for 1.5 look great and world generation would be needed for it. Most of us are end game now and are struggling to find things to do.
You're welcome But mine died If we do have a full reset, I would like to see iridium just a little bit more. instead of 1 every billion chunks... Maybe 1 per 9 chunks if that can be done. I'm barely Mid-game at this point.
The probability to find iridium ore(block), is about 1 every 5 chunks, and I think it should stay like that. It gives a good probability to find it, but also not high enough that you can just spam quarries and get what more then you'll need.
On the topic of RedPower replacements: looks like we have replacements for basalt and marble. Look what Mr. Nice Guy Covert has added to Railcraft now. (Along with smoker blocks for chimneys. Wow, do I love those.) From left to right: Frost Bound Brick, Bleached Bone Brick, Abyssal Stone, Infernal Brick, Blood Stained Brick, Sandy Brick and Quarried Stone. All with 5 varieties, and stairs and slab versions.
Get involved in projects or start your own! Minecraft is endless and the map is farrr from being overpopulated. I think Cromy put it best in TS "on this server, it's all about who has the biggest penis, not the prettiest penis"
