As you're all know, we're back in the update limbo where we can't update to the newer version of Minecraft because of one lady, author of RedPower2. RP2 isn't available for 1.5 (yet). Therefore we have three primary choices: Wait for RedPower2, then update to 1.5 (or 1.6) (edit: this is likely what we are going with) Lose RedPower2 and update now to 1.5 Reset the worlds and update to 1.5 (& transfer builds from 1.4 to 1.5) There's a poll on this thread; please vote on all choices that you are OK with.
Honestly. With all the stuff coming out from other mods, i think it would make rp2 obsolete apart from losing frames. Maybe if we were to update, maybe could we see a verdict on turtles? As of now, i will say do not update until rp2 comes out, if/when it does. Cause that gives people time to do what they have planned.
for my current base i rely heavily on some parts of rp2 so for me it's either wipe or wait. as i'm not very happy with my current location and teammates commitment i'd say wipe it and i'll start anew although i really like my current stash of ressources...
I think resetting all worlds is going a bit too far, mostly because some people just got their stuff set up, and I'm pretty sure people who worked hard to get where they are probably don't want to give it up. RP2 is kind of a necessity, for red alloy wire and the different circuits it adds to make things easier. I hope that when we update that the nether is the only world reset however.
Though a lot of important things in RP2 can be replaced: - MineFactory Reloaded can replace part of the tube network and also wiring; - Thermal Expansion can replace lamps; - ComputerCraft can replace integrated circuits; - Immibis's Microblocks can replace microblocks. Though frames can not be replaced.
I don't like any of those 3 choices. IMO, 1.5 adds nothing good vanilla-wise, I would be happy staying on 1.4.7 with all the final versions of the mods
I also had the crazy idea of resetting unclaimed chunks. It would make a patchy world with chunk problems everywhere though.
that would suck because people terraform outside of their claimed land to make the area around nice...
Personally i think a reset is a great idea, It would mean a fresh start for all of us & though RP2 is useful in countless ways, its not all that bad if the world is reset without it, Its not NEEDED its just preferred, Yet obviously the decision is dependent on the rest of the server & whatever happens im not going to be one to ***** and whine about it, Im sure there are many people who will but there's always going to be conflict, There is no way to satisfy everyone, this is a server decision and people should support and accept whatever happens ~ フィン
Red alloy wire and blocks/microblocks, gems, sickle and seed/canvas bags are all I use from RP2 anymore it seems. Gave up on frames/power long ago and there's plenty of better sorting systems now. Deployers and filters have limited use though, so would need to be replaced. Red alloy and the logic gates though, are such a huge part of everything, tough call.
Oh, RP2 world gen. If the world resets without RP2 then we get another mod that will generate sapphire and ruby. GregTech does, but only in certain biomes and a lot less common. Ruby in deserts Sapphire in oceans
