This suggestion is for Alice 1.5 - Power Converters requires PC Core to be installed
Currently Alice uses the mod Transformers to handle EU and MJ conversion.
I propose replacing this mod with PowerConverters for numerous reasons.

    Problems with Transformers
    • Pneumatic Generators have no redstone toggling functionality.
    • Electric engines consistently lose >40% of their produced MJ when powering TE conduits/cells and MJ-powered machines.
    • There is no reliable way to have 100% efficiency and not run the risk of exploding conductive pipes.
    • Rigid configuration style prevents addition of conversion "loss" and exchange rate changes.
    Direct Benefits of Power Converters
    • Ability to convert to and from EU, MJ, RailCraft, and Factorization power.
    • Ability to configure both direct conversion rates as well as input and output multipliers.
    • A simple to use charger that charges IC2 items in adjacent inventories and charges player items when stood on from above.
The only problem I see with Power Converters may be the relative cheapness of the converters, however, converters are not really supposed to be very expensive... If you look at the real world, you can buy motors (electric to mechanical power or basically "EU" to "MJ") for $30.

Looks like a nice mod, and better than what we have.

Having said that, my vote would be for no power conversion mods/machines at all. The various mod's power types are not designed to balance with one another. Conversion mods inevitably make the cheapest power generation the only one used 99% of the time.

    +1 for this mod.

In the meantime thou, try an eu splitter cable or a block breaker/deployer setup on the pneumatic gen. Keep in mind eu splitter cables need a DIRECT redstone signal (redstone torch).

The Pneumatic gen will keep using up MJ without outputting EU if there is no valid output for the power. Block breakers/deployers are kinda overkill for this IMO.

I don't get how. It's a pretty simple setup... Maybe use the redstone control on a redstone energy cell to regulate?

That's how I've been doing it so far. But this mod is so much more elegant and hassle-free.

Seems like it might be worth a shot, but as someone who has a few 36 HP boilers going, powering my machines with an adjustable some redstone energy cells and tesseracts is rather OP. Also having said that I power 3 boilers that size and still have a gain on biomas so I haven't reached that neutral level yet for generating MJ using that method.

This problem of "OP"-ness is still present no matter which transformation mod we use. The benfit PowerConverters has in this regard is that it has the ability to configure a loss in translation.
