I get this error everytime I run Minecraft and I have no idea how to fix it, I've tried everything I can think of. When I start alice it shows this error in the news feed and when I click Login, it says "Update Server Unreachable..." if I click "Play with checking for updates" it gives me an error when I join the server. Also, I can't seem to login to Steam either, it says that the Steam servers are unreachable, these problems are most likely related. Anyone who thinks they can help please do so!

See if vanilla minecraft works. And here's a phrase you've probably heard a lot: reinstall your drivers.

Vanilla does the same thing, and I've tried lol, everything I've found says to edit my hosts file but it doesn't seem to work

Assuming you are on Windows, hit Windows key + R, type cmd, press Enter

Then type [typed]ping update.skcraft.com[/typed]. Does that work, or does it say timed out?
Then try [typed]ping 108.162.195.99[/typed]. Does that work?

Your DNS server might be screwed up, and so you would not be able to translate hostnames into IP addresses, but your Internet would still "work."

Not the dns server then. Maybe sk can look up what happens in console when you try to make a connection?

Did you check if your firewall blocks java?
