Yes, I agree, GT stuff takes way too long and is way too expensive, I understand that some IC2 stuff is a bit to cheap/easy, but GT takes it too far (what I repeatedly say). Having a limit on chunkloaders would be fine, but most people use them mainly for loading GT stuff because it takes too long (what someone else said who I can't remember). I know I would only use 2/3 (Base, Nether, Quarry <- I can't remember if autoloading is now enabled). tldr; GT is too slow/expensive/hard <-------------------------------------------\ most people could probably only need 3-4ish chunkloaders if these --/ were changed.
Yeah, i agree. but if there are alts starting to use personal anchors... then just simply disable it them
Quick math: 60 centrifuges using ME Network Each Centrifuge needs 2 Export Buses and 1 Import or Storage Bus. 60*3= 180 ME Network blocks Now, if I can remove half of my centrifuges because I can overclock the rest we get: 30*3= 90 ME Network blocks 50% reduction in ME Network blocks/updates I would prolly do more than one overclocker upgrade per machine so this would be a lot more reduction. But you can see what just one overclocker per machine achieves.
Actually there are a number of reasons why I am not 1. I don't bank roll the server 2. I'm not Sk 3. I don't do any type of programing 4.If I did the last thing I'd want to do at the end of the day is do more programing. 5. (see 2 again.)
Do the same rules apply where the machine gets sped up by 30% and the power requirement goes up by 60%?
This is undisputed match, but the issue is that I would totally rather make more machines than be cheated out of my energy. I hate overclockers because they increase power consumption more than speed. If you know me, I do NOT like it when I lose power over worthless things. Take my base for example... There is NO place at my base that has any IC2 cable loss. Nope because I can just freaking make another centrifuge to get 100% increase in speed with a 100% increase in power as opposed to 120% speed for 310% power (w/ 3 of your overclockers). I wish I could make tables in here. Then I could explain this very easily. EDIT: Here's a Desmo's graph model.
Not what I meant. According to the official IC2 wiki, adding 1 overclocker will increase the speed by 30% and power consumption by 60% of a normal IC2 machine. I'm asking if it's the same for Gregtech machines or did Greg nerf it to only like (example) +15% speed increase and like +50% power consumption for his machines only?
That information is kind of insignificant IMO. I was just trying to say that the way overclockers are "balanced" will always favor using multiple machines.
I meant the third offense in a row. If the script detects that a player has rejoined after being afk-kicked and continues to afk, then it is obviously a script. Players wouldn't be banned just for taking a break. I can understand the issue with the Theater, but not many people watch the whole movie without making comments or getting up to do something. There could also be a warning in the chat when you are about to be kicked.
I can see where you are coming from but this violates the reason why many of us are on this server as opposed to another. The relative sense of freedom and community on this server is why people return to play here. By imposing restrictions and regulations upon this freedom, you make this place less attractive, not to mention to relative subjectiveness of "rejoining" and "afk," and the fact that the moderators don't exactly keep track of who is online and are also here to have fun with the game. As I said in my post above and that was reiterated by 007, the problem here is that being afk overnight or while you are doing other more important stuff than waiting for a machine to finish doing a job is become more and more required to be able to enjoy this game. This modded playstyle has turned from an innovation-driven system to a time and resource-driven system which supports afking and behavior as such. The "balancing" done in mods that strive to make the game longer has to be toned down. Playing after 5 months and being no further and more strapped for resources than I would have been a month pre-restart is excruciatingly frustrating and aggravating. This is the reason why I only made the final GT machines a few weeks ago. There are a lot more things that I can talk about. I'll save you the time.
I wouldn't be surprised if chat detection would be possible with computer craft or some other mod/script. Personally I'd like to see more mulitblock machines that run 10x the items, at 10x the speed at 10x the power and be 10x the cost to make. Hows that for balance?
Multi-block machines are the bane of all servers, for the staggering amount of world checks they must make. Also, chat is not how you determine AFK-ness. I can happy play the game without talking and I have done so on many occasions. Refer to the post #51 over freedom of playstyle.
I'd say get rid of world anchors. My base is anchor free already. People that are actively playing should get the server resources, not anchors, and not AFK players. For all the bellyaching about GregTech, I can't help but notice that there are more people playing than ever before, and unlike last map, things are not going stale nearly as fast. Let's upgrade GregTech and keep the momentum going!
I would say that <60% of the original starting players are truly active now and that most of the people play stop within 1 to 2 months... This doesn't make for the most cooperative and healthy server.
A server doesn't require 48 people on at all times to be a healthy sever, and both small and large servers have their pros and cons. So what makes the server"healthy" is really up to SK, also if people are going to complain about low TPS then maybe they should donate so we can get a more powerful server. Remember it's free, and when something is free you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. As for world checks not everyone makes a grinder sawmill compressor and furnace (Gregtech machines.) within the first week and I don't think anyone working alone from start to endgame makes it there in a month or two. That said if speed was tied to more expensive blocks it would take time to get the speed up. If people aren't willing to invest the time and effort it begs the question are they really committed to the server or their epeen?
Odd, I don't use a script yet I rejoin after being kicked from the server for a restart then I continue watching TV, doing homework, etc. (AFKing). Just remember that this is a video game dude and most of use it to get away from our real life commitments. Why would we want to commit to a video game?
GK: I was speaking in relation to You're correct it is a video game, but it's still an investment of personal time to play with other people, why invest time getting to know a person who is just going to up and quit because the pace it too slow. Part of the fun is learning the mods adjusting with them as they change, and the added fact that they enable you to accumulate large amounts of resources for creative builds. One thing I notice is that people are quick to help a person when they have a question or need help with how to wire something up correctly, but I don't see anyone handing out free fusion reactors. Is it maybe because people who could worked hard to get the resources required to make them, and that is also part of the fun? But I digress; if disabling anchors gets people to plan out how they setup their base to keep it loaded when they are on, save for chunk-loading in the mining world. I'd be for it.
The point that was brought up to use an auto afk-kicker was to stop people from using afk alts to load their base and hog the server's memory. You wouldn't rejoin and immediately continue to be afk unless you were doing so.
