Let me know if anyone knows of a mod like this. It would basically be a more survival version of world edit. The idea would be to have some kind of machine and markers that would be reasonably difficult to make, and maybe only have 1 use. You would place the markers and it would essentially delete whatever was enclosed, and copy it on to some kind of disc. You could then take what you copied and move it somewhere else. (maybe it could cost tons of eu or something). The only issue I have would be leaving gaping holes in the real world where people have decided to uproot mountain bases and such. Maybe someone could think of a creative way around this. I think something like this would open up a whole new dynamic for the newfound item for item economy. One with specific knowledge could sell advanced working sorting systems for example. Anyway commentary and suggestions are welcome. If it doesn't exist I'm fairly certain someone around here could make this happen =P
No that's not at all what he's talking about. His idea is actually quite interesting, and could be most easily compared to builder templates and the buildcraft builder. Basically he's saying you mark off a 3D space and convert every block inside that space into air blocks and you get back a disc that you can use to easily and conveniently transport something, and then reconstitute it in the world at another location. Hence his analogy that you could build sorting systems or processing systems, compress them onto a disc for transport, and sell them to other players for use. Honestly that could be enormous fun, not sure how it could be worked though. Imagine, a player who builds assembly/sorting/processing systems for people in modular fashion and sells them to others, who can then plug it into their system without having to build each component themselves.
To be honest, I just wish BuildCraft Builders were fixed soon. Those are among the most useful in what BuildCraft provides. Once Builders are fixed, you can sell templates/blueprints, and sell them among with a few canvas bags containing the required resources.
interesting concept selling someone a automatic rig problem is there was some mod comparability problems last time i checked (builder) it wouldn't always place everything and sometimes it requested the wrong item (it still placed what you did tho) micro blocks being a good example here someone aslos made a mod that let you have a 3d hologram as a reference that was cool as well so its been done but not as well as it could of been
Sounds good. I've always wanted to try BC Builders and blueprints. It'll be nice to see it working right.
Well, the Builder is currently disabled in BuildCraft itself, because it was corrupting worlds. The modders are currently working on rewriting them.
