Frame borers are still 80% of the cause of the server lag. Therefore, I'd like to do something about them, possibly disabling them. I can, for example, only allow block breakers in a limited number of chunks per person, a list that you would not be able to change easily. However, if disabling block breakers makes massive gains to the server's performance, we can have things like chunk loaders enabled and BC3 quarries fixed. In Alice 1.2.5, frame borers were not a problem because they were too hard for most people to make. The change to allow crafting pneumatic pipes with frames changed that, and it also allowed people to make larger frame borers as they have to use fewer frame blocks for the purpose of building the non-mining portions of a frame borer. In addition, RP2's tubes are not the most efficient and people can accidentally build a demanding system (which may include infinite loops). Without frame borers, most people avoid RP2's pipes entirely, but frame borers change that. OPINIONS?
I'm all for fixing chunk loaders and BC quarries. The frames are nice but so incredibly abusive to the server, the land and the economy. It should also probably fix much of the corrupted chunk issues we've been having.
I agree with the idea of limiting or disabling this creation. They are very impressive machines, but far too overpowered. They flood the economy with innumerate resources for very little effort, and 80% speaks volumes. I vote for probationary removal of them to see how Alice fares.
Currently BC3 requires me to be within range of the quarry or else it stops of course, and it resets the quarry size to 9x9, forcing me to reset the landmarks, and it to waste more MJ removing all the now invalid quarry frames. I deal with it because I can, and I dont feel like investing in a quarry, or setting one up, but this would be extremely helpful. I would very much like quarries to be chunk loaded, but more than that, this glitch to STOP. And if tons of lag can be avoided, that would be just as awesome!
Just get rid of the lag! I'll be happy in any way! Chunk Loaders and Quarries would be nice to have! I would also like to see more mobs also. I'm starting to get bored, of no/few mobs, in our main world!
Isn't it possible to see similar perfomance issues if the people with large bores replace them with several quarries? Just a thought. Nice idea though doesn't bother me. Would be nice to see world anchors going again
its not like tbms are run 24/7 i myself only run it for about half an hour when i get low on Martial s (that's not often) i think people abusing it and running them non stop for there own gains should have to tear them down or at least limit the size i like that idea
I go for it, maybe instead of limiting the size of the amount but make it require more power to move them so you would need a huge about of stable power to run them.
why do i get the feeling all the people for disabling bores have never attempted to make them and how is this fair for everyone who has invested gear on tbms =/
Then people would make huge amounts of stable power, creating additional drain on server resources, and the TBM's would continue to move as normal. You act the way most modders act: that increasing resource cost actually accomplishes anything other than extending the time it takes to reach a certain point. Increasing resource cost does jack all when you can harvest massive amounts of resources in very short periods of time. Further most people with the big TBM's already have massive stockpiles of resources so scaling their power generation to deal with additional power requirements would consume all of an afternoon at most before the TBM was back in operation.
see that's not fair people that have these tiny bores are getting ripped off like mine is about the same and i only run it when i really need materials where there are people with multiple giant boars that reach the frames hard limit when they don't Evan need it
Fair? Need? You do not determine these things, my friend. As to server resources, SK created the problem himself by eliminating all other ways of mass resource extraction except for the single most resource intensive one. People are going to USE the quickest way, and most efficient way, to get mass resources. That would be TBM's, which are resource intensive. SK is now doing something to deal with the problem and reverting his changes to BC3 quarries is a good start, along with nixing TBM's period. They're incredibly intensive.
