With the most recent update, it has brought attention to me and many other people, the new recipe. Before the update it was: 3 reinforced glass 2 advanced alloy 1 solar panel 2 advanced circuits 1 machine block After the update it is: Everything the same before but instead of a machine block its now a "Irradiant Reinforced plate" Irradiant Reinforced plate: now im not going into the specifics but the major components needed are 1 Diamond Sunnarium Part= 2 UU matter IridiumIron plate= 8 refined iron and 1 IRIDIUM INGOT Now to some people, If not most, this is just an extra step. But for the people in mid game/early game, this is a complete nightmare. I find this to be ridiculous update to the recipe. The new update does not change any other panels, but you are still going to need the advanced solar panel for the upper tier panels. This is beyond difficult for me. Now i might be over reacting but i just can not fathom the idea that people think this is reasonable. What are your guy's thoughts?
This new recipe was not added by GregTech, it was added by the dev of the Advanced Solar Panels mod. I think the new recipe is ridiculous and needs to be changed back.
Well, solars ARE pretty overpowered. But yeah, still kind of odd since most people like to power their silly matter fabricators with solar panels.
The current price almost makes advanced solar panels quite... Redundant. I find that they're about a beginning-midgame item, so I agree with you.
advanced solar in my opinion is the buy in for everything making it to expensive makes getting end game way to grindy
Steam Turbines and Nuclear Reactors just got a whole lot more attractive. I do hope SK changes the recipe back, though. As Flutter said, Advanced Solars are pretty much underpowered now. And I just finished learning my ME system how to craft them.
Even so, it may be so that advanced solars are underpowered. But in my opinion it's a good change, especially since you could basically spam advanced solars and have them power your base of ages to come.
i get that but what are people suppose to do for consistent power for early game noobs? im in the middle game right now and have a good setup of Advanced Panels, i just fine its unfair for people to look for Iridium for 1 advanced solar panel. They should boost up the efficiency of them now, due to it taking Iridium to make...
I think its better that they're not so cheap to make. They are REALLY powerful when you consider that you can make 500+ of them with very little effort. and end up with a very high EU/t rate at no hardcore outlay. Yes that kind of build requires time and a LOT of low level resources. But... I did it. I've got several hundred Adv. Solars, because they didn't cost enough to stop me spamming them. I won't be doing that anymore... Times change, we need to adapt!
NOT to spam solars. What our group did at first, was a nuclear reactor, which are so cheap now it's not even funny. just experiment with different ways to get eu. It's not THAT hard.
It'd be senseless to make Adv Solars more powerful... that'd counteract the point of increasing the cost... I ought to look into the reactors now... I'll bet I'll be happy about the change
Like I (indirectly) said before, people will now probably consider reactors and turbines more. Reactors can be VERY powerful and effecient with a decent setup, and turbines can produce 100 EU/t, when being fed enough steam. Each.
Adv. Solar Panels are tedious and low resource intensive to make, I want to be using my hard earned UU and iridium towards some Ults or a Quantum suit, not more low level power, this recipe change would be fair if we didn't have to deal with the difficulty of gregtech, but we do, and iridium is very hard to get, not sure if you can blame the mod creator, as he probably didn't take into account gregtech users...
And possible taking out the extra adv. alloy and carbon plates in the Reinforced Iridium play, so its like the old advanced machine block. Or take out the diamond as well, or both... I would just like it reverted all together, here is my reason: Getting the 32mil eu for those 2 UU is obviously to hard for beginners with only regular solars... if you have 100 reg solars that's 4.5 hours (of daylight which makes it more like 9) to get those 2 uu, and that's with normal 20 t/s tick rates which we are far from having. Also taking into account crashes, restarts, and disconnects. These new people going afk for hours on end to get close to starting there power farms wouldn't be worth the server resources and for a measly Adv. Solar Panel... So with that summed up just revert it.
I quite like the idea that other methods of power become more appealing. Everyone using the same end-game stuff does get tiring. It doesn't have to be all 'Ults' and 'Reactors' after all. Lets see what else there is!
