Most players are aware that the Mining World receives a regular reset to keep it fresh and lush.
And many of you will also know that The End has on occasion been reset to liven up is resource providence...

However, in my SKCraft life, there has yet to be a Nether rejuvenation.

I feel that its an important decision that will require a lot of consideration before action as a lot of work has gone into the limited shaping of various aspects of the Nether that would be lost in the event of a reset.

I do feel, all things considered, that this loss would be slight, and well worth the cost.

As a community, I would like us to discuss the pros/cons of this action and also vote to decide if we want it to happen...

I agree with DVarin about this due to the fact that lava usage is high from many people and we are out of lava around our portal due to pumping by ourselves and other members. I also feel that a nether reset would help people rediscover nether fortresses and get new resources.

I'd like to see a community based Blaze Farm akin to the awesome Ender Farm...
And I'd like personally to have a spot of nether within 10,000m of spawn that i could call my own...

Seriously... does gkNova OWN the nether or what?

Resetting the nether would cause more hassle then not. Many people have spent time and effort building stuff in the nether, blaze grinders, nether roads. Especially with the amount of nether portals that would be ruined. Even with the /nethercoords command, it's still unnecessary work.

And no, gk does not. Our group does (it consists of gk, myself, glitch, pathaleon, and buttons).

    So let's make a vote.
Majority will win, make the vote in this thread. (Edit the main post to add the vote I think)

You forget about that this forum doesn't make decisions, SK does.
And if anyone really is against a nether reset he can come here and explain why.

I'm not suggesting that we decide the outcome, but we should decide if this is what we as a community want.
SK doesn't need to be troubled with this at all unless we are decided that it is what the majority want.

I agree with a reset of the nether and possibly the end. A lot of people have a lot of claimed land in the nether and it's unfair for players just starting out to have to travel to the other side of the nether to just get simple items such as glowstone, ore, or even a spawner because these people claim all these items and never mine it or even use it. I believe it needs to be reset for a fresh start just the same as a world purge because if you don't purge and reset a map then you end up with no ores or very little ores and a lot of holes everywhere. I realize a lot of people put a lot of time into the nether but the thing is...you don't live in the nether why spend so much time for people who jetpack in, get what they need and endpearl out? You also put in a lot of time into the overworld also but yet we have to reset that as well after a few months of activity... I agree that it should be reset and won't be upset if it does or doesn't.

While I do like the Nether walkway system, I think that a Nether reset would be good. A lot of the land there is torn up, a lot of lava is drained (I think) and Glowstone is not as easy to find as it should be. You have to go a couple hundred blocks or maybe even a thousand or two if you live in a densely populated area (which is not a problem for me, but apparently is for some people) to find it.

Edit: Got rid of a run-on sentence

I think it should be purged instead of reset because of all the people who actually live in the nether (and because of the walkways amongst other builds). Maybe it could be like everything within 1000 radius stays.

Or it could be a script that resets only chunks where blocks have been placed.
And more precisely check if this or this block have been placed in the chunk before to reset it.
And even possibly to check since how many times blocks have been placed (to detect abandonned places)

This way we could keep buildings and structures but remove old quarries and old bases.

I was under the impression that it wasn't 'legal' to quarry or bore the nether.
Despite the suspicious number of people claiming to posses netherrack in the millions :s

In any case. I appreciate the fact that the nether is actually somewhat populated to a degree, and maybe GK's suggestion of a protection bubble is well worth merit. Though, if the nether is a habitable region with any relevant number of structures that required time, effort and resources; maybe resetting isn't an option after all.

My base portal in the nether is a couple hundred blocks from spawn's nether portal. I only have to go a couple hundred more blocks to find glowstone, and that is just off the main pathway. I really really do not get where people are coming from stating the nether is barren of glowstone and ores, or that you have to travel some massive or unreasonable distance to find them. Heck, last week I pulled 8 stacks of glowstone blocks out of the nether in 10 minutes, travel time to the glowstone included.

That being said, glowstone is now a renewable resource with bees, all it takes is an entrepreneurial player or two and the server will have a steady supply of glowstone. Maybe letting the nether be drained of lava could be a good thing. I have heard players say that their lava system is so large they have to move their pump twice a day. My lava system I have only had to move twice since I joined the server, with full knowledge that I would move away from it. Maybe it will push people, like me, to move onto bigger and better(maybe less laggy) things. Lava is renewable, on a small scale at least, so it can still be used as a beginner's resource.

So with both lava and glowstone being renewable resources able to be provided by players themselves or other players through the bazaar I do not really see a need to reset the nether.

nethertravel without grav suit is dangerous for noobs. and bees aren't really an option for most people either.

We're already On it, I'm cooking up a batch of Longest, Fastest, Max fert, flowers, both_2, Explorer already.
    let the glowstone production commence.

Overall we will have about 200 glowstone bees when I am done.
I'll sell it nice and cheap when we've got it going in the new store in water district.
