So I see the server is on hard difficulty which is fine by me. Yet when I play, the only thing I find hard about the server is trying to find mobs or the mass increase of wisps and auras....it's like there are practically 0 mobs. I can mine without having to worry about armor or even a weapon because there are no mobs. In the nether, there may be one Ghast and about 15 pigmen every 7 chunks? Not to mention Wither Skeles are rare enough in regular MC and on this server there are practically 0 of them spawning. So, my request is to increase mob spawns, hell increase them enough to make it hard to play...since this is after all a hard difficulty server.
A better decision is for sk/the staff team; to make a shop to sell the mob drops, including wither skeleton skulls. Which has been discussed before.
Maybe if possible turn down wisp spawning, there are just tons of them, maybe that's what takes away from the mob spawn rates.
What stops the mobs spawning, is the counter measures sk has implemented to reduce lag, so when the server is under load, it'll basically stop spawn rates and spawners. And I'm not 100% sure, but I think the wisp spawning is coded into the mod itself, and has no config to lessen it. And anyway, the wisp spawning is because of a dark/unstable node in your area.
Shadow is right. If you want more mobs, simply reduce the lagging causes, like many light or block updates.
Is anything being done to curtail the invasion of the squid? Seriously, there are hundreds of squid in the ocean outside my base.
As I and others have found, the end farm immediately causes mobs to stop spawning as soon as anyone is there. The difference between wen someone is there and nobody is there is amazing. When anybody is there at my wither farm, I get a mob spawn (any mob) once every couple of minutes (2-5). As soon as they leave (or die) I literally get overrun with mobs and I can run around as fast as I can(with quantum) killing them all non stop until someone goes back to the farm, then it is slow as molasses again.
So reset the end? Find ways to reduce lag I guess... I mean I'm honestly just not finding this server to be hard, it's so easy to walk around with just a jetpack on and have it dead and not worry about mobs. I agree with the idea of selling mob drops. There are plenty of shops that are closed at spawn that could be made to sell these items.
Unless you've just completely ignored our posts, you would've known that the mob deficiency is because of sk reducing lag. And this server isn't really supposed to be hard. I mean hell!, sk even toned down the mobs AI on 1.2.5 alice even though the server was on hard difficulty, because the mobs were a little too hard for players just starting out, to defeat. Unless sk made the prices of enderpearls considerably cheaper, just resetting the end would bring more hassle and naught to be shown for the effort. People will just keep making endermen farms because enderpearls; even though they are sold, are still a very valuable commodity.
I'm not ignoring the posts I'm just stating how I feel. I understand reducing lag by reducing the number of mob spawning. I'm just trying to think of a way to make it easier on everyone to get materials like bones, gunpowder, wither skulls, ghast tears, blaze rods etc etc. ^_^
Mobdrops are mostly sold in Spawn, at the bazzar or by a face-to-face trade. also you still can find an sawner in a dungeon and make it a mobfarm. AND since we have thaumcraft or hmmm..thermal expansions/Gregtech (not sure wich mod exactly it is, i bet next post will clear that out. ) you can make gunpowder. ghast tears and wither skulls are surely still almost impossible to get. currently working with glitch80 on quests to change that.
Gunpowder can be made both with thermal expansion and gregtech And ghasts tears are not impossible to get, if you focus on bees, or get someone to trade to it, you can easily get some bees that PRODUCE them at an efficient rate.
i was so sure, that you will tell us, shadow. sooo, on a modded server you actually dont need to hunt for mobs to get their stuff... you simply produce it :3
Yes, but this bee needs the ender bee in one of it's mutations, and that is already nearly impossible to obtain, mostly due to people getting to the dragons first before others can get there, and the ender bee only appearing after defeat of the dragon.
My biggest issue is just wither skulls for the nether star.... that and trying to find skeletons so I can get bonemeal lol
