I think that we should be able to communicate with the servers through an IRC if we are not online in Minecraft. This would make it easier to notify people, since people do not check their forum accounts too often. This would also make it easier to talk to the server on a computer that doesn't have Minecraft installed. A great server on any IRC is chat.freenode.net:6665-6667,7000 I would make a channel on here if anyone wants to join. An IRC client is below.
Before we had it so you could chat over Jabber/XMPP/Gtalk (except the bot kept messaging itself and crashing for some reason). I am not too fond of putting it on IRC to be honest.
the thing I like most about IRC is mainly just that it looks like a linux commands input screen which i find really fun to play with. i also like that MC chat is mostly based off of it
I like the idea of connecting an IRC to the server chat. Classic server software like McZall, McLawl, McForge, etc. all have a feature for an IRC linked chat.
I think what Alex is saying is that they syntax for starting/joining a chat (/join privatechat) is the same.
No , i mean why isn't there a software like MClawl or Fcraft etc.. it was so much easier to run and manage a server with that :=)
I always go on the website and look for an IRC button when i can't go on minecraft for some strange reason. Honestly thou, mumble works fine for me when i need to text chat like sk on mumble . My iPhone as a mic can be crappy at times or is always crappy, really, as pointed out by some of you guys on Mumble.
