If you have been Alice, you might have noticed that the server ranges from "working really well" to "completely unplayable block lag." A lot of the lag is due to new chunks being generated as people explore the world, so we've temporarily shutdown Alice as we generate chunks up to a radius of 5,000 blocks (or perhaps 6,000). This also means that you will not be able to build a base past this limit once the server returns. Sorry :(

EDIT: The world has been generated and the server should be up soon.

Be sure to stay up on updates using our Facebook page! http://facebook.com/skcraft

As of writing, we're on 124,000 and we'll probably be done by tomorrow (if all else goes well). We need to generate about 400,000 chunks to make a 5,000 by 5,000 block radius map.

So those of us who have already started settling beyond that border ... ? Will we have to abandon base? Will we be able to return into the 5k radius past the barrier?

Will the nether be preloaded too?

    Hey, we're back! :)

Hopefully unfounded fear, but will this pre-generate thing destroy/rebuild existing chunks? Just wondering if my house and landscaping will be there when the server comes back up?

    It will not.

Nether will not be preloaded at this time. Nether generation is much cheaper.

    The world is limited, right?
What about teleporting randomly inside that generated chunks?
Example: /rtp -> Teleports at a random location. That way, you wouldn't have to wander ~2km in Minecraft as a newbie in order to find a free place. :)

Generally teleportation is limited, and costly on skcraft. I think a random warp command would be a little to powerful, unless it had some major restrictions.

Walking may not be bad, but waiting is. What's the count SK? ;)

    Edit: Nevermind, it's up!
