[h2]Questionnaire[/h2] More importantly, I have an important question: If BuildCraft 3 quarries, which now have a chunk loading feature that cannot be easily disabled, were to be disabled, what would you, personally (and realistically), do as an alternative? Would you just go back to regular mining, or would you do something else to make up for the lack of the quarry? If the latter, what would that be?
Having quarries disabled is not a big problem on my side, I can build one using redpower frames, in a lot of ways using Forth, Lua, or logic gates.
As for the quarry replacement issue, I think that having quarries missing would not be much of a hassle, especially because of the increased energy requirements set in BC3. I personally would mine by hand (or equivalent) and then immediately jump to fully underground frame miners now that EnderStorage has been added. I think that the individual worlds (or the mining world, if MystCraft does not work out) should be where frame miners should be confined to so that they don't accidentally intrude into other peoples contructs.
I am mostly against using quarries in the first place. 88% of my ores and mining goodies are from mining or caving. The latter is the most fun, IMO. ^.^
I love quarries, but they make me very lazy. Building a RP2 frame quarry or a frame miner is more of a challenge and more fun to use and watch. Also a question: is logistic's pipes not being added? I thought it was for awhile, and then I did not see it on the spreadsheet. Any one know? If it is not being added, it is a great mod that enables better sorting and utilization of pipe networks. If anyone wants a link to the jenkins, here it is. Also another shoutout for mystcraft!
I like RP2 frame quarries more that BC quarries anyways, so I'll probably mine until I can use RP2. I would rather have no BC quarries than have people who wreck the landscape with them. There are plenty of cool hand-mining tools anyways. I will still use those even if I have RP2 frames. Quarries are a bit of a cheat anyways. There are better ways to mine, but none are easier for the player to do. I will celebrate their death.
Sorry I've recently gotten back in to school, so I missed the chance but. I would like to see the Twilight Forest Mod. I think it's nice to have other areas to explore and develope. That aside In answer of the questioner I would build a RP frame quarry with a world anchor. Also given the previous post that had talk of reducing the effectiveness of the energy link (I suspect because of what can currently be done with a mining well setup) I will likely look at the Red Power rout as a long term solution.
Also side note, SK if you didn't know, chunk loaders/world anchors now require enderpearl fuel, so please don't disable them in unclaimed land anymore. (I think the rate is about 1 enderpearl = 2 IRL hours)

without quarries , I would use frames instead build craft should have the additional objects and additional pipes be included ! endear storage is a grate mod using it on Vincent it has been very useful. extra bees mod would be a good addition to bees of forestry, Hope it gets put in ! advanced machines is good idea but not necessary. ic2 transformers looks like it would be a good thing. Thaumcraft is going to be a server resource hog and taint will get out of control i will not reveal names as person plans to nuke one aria after another with taint. I am glad paint ball has been reconsidered love the sniper rifle. mystcraft looks interesting and all the exploring that could be done if it dose not lag the server.
Also, I suggest thatyou make a simple plugin where newbies are spawned in a different place and that place should have some basic rules and disclaimers. Maybe we can basic tuts there too. Then there should be this teleporter which tp the player from that place(which can be right under spawn) to spawn(both direction). (concept of hero spawn, a bukkit plugin. The issue with using that is that we are not waiting for a bukkit-forge to be released... Unless you find a forge version of that plugin or convert it, I don't think we can use this here...
Hmmmm still not quite sure why are we reducing efficiency of energy links and transformers. I thought it was balanced? (even though the mining well was OP)
Thaumcraft doesn't have taint any more. I forgot what it is, but its way less dangerous than taint was. Thankfully. Enderstorage on vincent is different from Enderstorage on Alice. Enderchests are in Vanilla now, but Enderstorage is similar, but different.
