As to the suggestion for Advanced Solar Panels, I would comment that as Gregtech is included, it is significantly more resource intensive, and takes more more energy invested, to even make the first solar panels. Silicone plates require an Industrial Blast Furnace. Iridium is required for the top two tiers of Solar Panels, (64 Iridium Ore for the top tier), and a Matter Fabricator takes an enormous amount of energy to make even one UU Matter when compared to the base IC2 Mass Fab.
I wouldn't have suggested the FTP server if I wasn't already aware of its problems and had already a solution in mind for it. Not quite, because people are not going to put in extra effort to do something when there are easier ways to do it, even if the choice unintentionally makes them get bored of the game quicker.
It seemed hard, but it was actually easy (at least for us) on an Industrial 1.4.6 server with all the hard options on to get an ultimate hybrid (and more). Plus, when you get the ultimate hybrid, you've got free EU indefinitely. You'd reach the end-game much quicker with adv. solars. This is counting the matter fabricator. Yes, because I can read your mind and know that you know of the problems In my mind - it's not like you need to let me know that you're aware of said problems and that you have a fix in your mind beforehand.
Yes, because clearly I was planning to give everyone full access to all the files in the same way I (didn't) give all access to all RP computer images. How absurd. In addition, the statement explicitly mentioned being able to also upload/download RP computer images, which means that obviously access would be restricted.
For all I knew, you could've been thinking of something entirely different... Anyways, back on topic before this get's outta hand. You could always make your own hashing algorithm API for ComputerCraft as authentication, and players can just call that API function to return the hash of their computer to enter into a web UI or something. But, there's always the chance of someone coming on the server, reading the API and actually being able to understand the hashing algorithm then start generating their own hashes if the hashing system is based on something static and different on every computer like ids.
Or just have people make a special ".users" file at the root of a computer or disk, with something like a list of users, or maybe groups of users.

Thinking about it now, before thinking of installing Thaumcraft there needs to be an anti Thaumcraft function for the main island or something. All the new peeps will struggle.
I'd like to see Gravity Suite, Mystcraft, Forestry Plugins, MFFS, Wireless Redstone CBE (Full?), Ender Storage, and Crafting Table 3 changed from Maybe to Yes... They are all fun and helpful mods. I can see Mystcraft being a problem with so many people on the server, but that could be easilly avoided by limiting (or disabling outright) the creation of ages. Also, why are Factorization and Advanced Machines under No? I could see them being pretty nice and useful. I agree that Portal gun could be easilly abused with so many people on the server so I can see why that's a no-go. If you have Mystcraft (with limited age creation) you should surely have Wireless Redstone. That's the only way to transmit things between ages, for example if you have a TBM or quarry in the public mining world (like the one we have in our outdated server) you can control it with something in your overworld home. Glad we're getting some publicly visible progress on the new server! Keep up the good work admins.
I'm guessing there is a higher chance of WRCBE getting added than Mystcraft. Although I've heard it has been abused, it might be less of chance that WRCBE will get added.
About Ballance If we will have Compact Solars [ Yupili ^^]I sudest block out HV sollar couse players are able to build 1-2 of this from start within 24h.... and then attach it to mass fabricator and create another hv just ffrom UUM. If hv whould be blocked, it will make farming energy not so easy as it will take 8 times more place to get same energy as with hv array . Actually, can we get the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator (obviously with config to not make it op) aka Gravity Gun Mod (http://ichun.us/mods/gravity-gun/ )? Edit: As someone above suggested, charge pads might be nice to add. They'd look awesome in a laboratory environment as a Hazard Suit where the player suits up and gets on the pad. Edit 2: After reading deeper into greg tech, I can't even decide. On one hand... *drools* so much nuclear engineering to be done... must... have... On the other hand, it changes lots of recipes. I just hope it doesn't change the recipe for standard nukers.
Was not taking into account the fact that popularity(people playing the server) was a factor, just the basis of a playing a game is to have fun and play your own style. As referred above, I would very much enjoy Charge Pads, a cool mod that you can step on and charge your Industrial Craft 2 items. LINK Also another prompt for WBCBE and also the Addons package for it. It provides a wireless remote, sniffers, trackers, and other nifty items. I know that there is some opposition, but it is a really fun mod that enhances redstone capabilities. Also Gravity Gun is a fun mod to use, and would like to be able to use that on the server.
