Hi everyone. I was just wondering about this but when is Alice going to update to 1.4.6? Are we just waiting for a bukkit port, or what. Maybe we could even switch to the new Feed the Beast pack. This way no configs need to be sorted out. Anyone knows more?
Quite honestly if we wait for bukkit it will be at least another month till the server would be reset because when it comes down to it. The forge-Bukkit project is dead and the only builds that have come out are by users that are willing to spend time porting a build of bukkit to forge. I'm speaking from what i know and my experience at this time. But I've been playing on another server for the past few weeks and what i can say is this. All the mods are updated, and there are administration mods out there like fighu's mods that have the chunk claiming and permissions. Granted we would not have all the great tweaks to the game that sk did, but frankly I think it is a HUGE sacrifice but a worthwhile sacrifice to update without bukkit, But yeah...that's just what I think. My semi-rant is over.
I think about something: If I'm not mistaken, the plugins aren't needed to play, I mean that we can have little replacement.. Temporary replacement ? Why not! So we would begin with mods (like the one to claim chunks and perms) instead of bukkit, and when the bukkit-forge port will be done, we'll take it and just set up the old plugins once again! The only problem is with the claiming of chunks: we can't remove the mod or the chunks will no longer be claimed! We can add the plugin over the mod, but I expect some problems if someone claims a chunk with the mod, and someone else with the plugin: then no one will be able to build at all!
Well you;re right about that, the plugins aren't needed to play, but if we wanted it to be like old skcraft then it would be a good idea to wait until all the plugins are ported (probably not going to happen ). But that's the thing, either we wait for the plugins like the enderpearl one and the chunk claiming to be updated first, because if we do then we don't have to switch claiming mods and run the risk of losing the claims (thou the server that i play on stores the claims in a file, so if the mod was removed, you wouldn't lose the claims)
Why don't we start a poll about this. Just ask everyone (or most people) on SKCraft to vote what they want. If they want to see Alice back very soon without the plugins or wait another month or so to see Alice with plugins.
To be quite honest, if people wanted a good 1.4.6 server to play on with all the mods from skcraft and more, I could easily just direct people to the one gk, glitch and I play on. But people want skcraft not some other random server. So I guess it's good to see that some people have learned to wait patiently for it to be reset.
I don't wanna go out because of this community: I saw no one in here really a badass, or just another kikoo man, and this is the best community I found! On any server I gone, there was huge problems, causing the server to end because of that... This one doesn't have any huge problems, there are still little griefs but they are corrected soon after reported, and the griefer is banned nearly always, and could still come back if he want, but for that he need to explain why he want to join back and why he'll stop griefing (or other things). This server also learned me to talk as "good" english as that (at least good enough to talk with someone and get understood). As (and I think I'm not alone) I stand here because of the community, and (even if it's really good to play on Alice) not especially because of the modded server, I can wait for an update, I don't care about how long it takes! But I still want an update, to play with less bugs (Mojang corrected a lot of bugs in the latest updates), nad also maybe to play with new mods installed on the server ? We'll see that after the update: the mods that became compatible to the server, because of it's update!
Whatever you say cran, I'm not going to argue with you. I'd prefer to count myself as "taking a break" from skcraft though >.> I do know what you mean, it is a very very good server with an equally awesome community. But sometimes you need a rest, I was playing on this server for the last 10-11 months. I originally had no intention to play on another server until Gk recommended a server he played on that he was helping maintain the servers modpack. But another update doesn't mean less bugs, there could be more bugs then before. But not many mods should be incompatible because of forge, so with all hope we will be seeing a lot more awesome mods added. But yeah, I never said I was quitting skcraft, just taking a break from it. I'll definitely stay here for a while to come (and come back and play on the server when it's updated).
You know what ? I hate macaronies! (Cranimesao anagram; yeah I know it's been a while since I found this but I though some jokes could be cool...)
