If he (popsicle) is saying that. I will say it in properly. There have been some VERY bad choices for people getting whitelisted. Idk if its just sk doing the applications now or not but i think he(/they) have been VERY lenient, i might even go as far as to say that he might not be bothering to look at the apps with the amount of noobs/trolls/idiots that i have seen . But I won't say that has happened yet as I don't really want to be banned for saying so. But i did say it……but oh well.
He was honest about his application and how he was whitelisted, and that helps inform the discussion. I don't think he was saying that the staff is doing a bad job, just that applications are not really an effective way to judge how players will contribute when they connect. Worse, it's lot of work for whoever has to monitor and process all the applications. It think an automatic trial system would be great. My concern is that staff be prepared to use their ban hammers and grief cleanup tools a bit more. Also, there should probably be a way to automatically remove expired trial account claims (and maybe even chunk resets on those claims) so there are not lots of little abandoned claims ringing spawn.
I would say make sure that "trial users" can't modify any existing blocks in the world from when they join, so then there wouldn't be any way of griefers whitelisting accounts to grief with.
I would think, based on what sk has said, that trial users would be unable to modify ANY blocks anywhere in the world, Except a certain area, far away from spawn. I'm happy to use the banhammer and rollback tools wherever needed. I just might not be on as much as I'd like and me being in a different time zone to most. I would however be happy to resolve griefings, if someone were to PM me on the forums with some details about the problem.
Logging 3 hours of gameplay time is too little.. Make it 8 hours.. Also the newcomers should write an essay and post original builds like the old days. Not sure if sk still uses this criteria tho..Don't let this community turn to shit
How do you guys see the option, that only a special amount of trial players per week can enter? So the admins/moderators might have the possibillity to keep the trial player better in sight.
I am new and I think staying in the mining world has been good for me so far. I am glad i could claim my chunk. I know that I need to make a "pretty" home and learn the mods. I feel less pressured being farther away from spawn. Once I make a place that I feel more proud of I intend to make something that will help the community.... Perhaps a co-op farm or something. What about actions are better than words!??! New comers stay out in mining world and can claim an area on a trial basis. They must prove that they can build like you want, help in some way with community or do some other awesome creative thing for people to visit. They can then progress to an island that does not get reset as often. To build right at spawn area or near by would be invite only. You have to earn it with beauty, creativity, good community relations. Also, feedback from staff prior to destroying hard work would be great because I would hate to lose all of my hard work if I didn't know why or what part of my build I should have improved. Alice takes so much time and learning, so it takes me longer to get things like I want them. Just curious, is the issue ugly buildings too close to spawn, greedy thieves, rude players..... ???? Anyway, people could post when they are ready for visitors. Then staff could offer suggestions for improvement. If these things were not proved in a reasonable amount of time, then they lose those chunks or whatever. I knew joint the server that there were certain expectations for design, so it would not be a surprise to me if someone said to fix this or that. Certain expectations from you guys gave me a goal and a challenge but I can still create and I am glad my houses is still there whenever I return. I wish there was a newbie / somewhat newbie chat channel so I could network with other new players and not worry about hogging you guys' chat space. Alice and Vincent are great fun and it is nice to work hard at creating a space I will be proud of. I am glad you all have expectations. I hate it that someone stole my farm stuff. And I don't want to live next to a really fugly build with griefing etc... So I would work hard to progress to living on the island I spoke of earlier. Just a thought. I hope I have no typos... I am in a mummy sleeping bag, freezing my tootsies off, and trying to hit the right buttons but I am shivering. So there you have it!
Guy is a generic term, for example; A girl walks to her group of female friends saying, ''hey guys''. Woman is a little demeaning.
I like the way WE can offtopic EVERY post we see here! (And I obviously like the way there is always someone ready to say "OH NOES, YOU'RE OFFTOPICING", no matter where and when you are!".)
Meh, there's always offtopic-ness in a thread, but there will always be something relating to the ontopic-ness.
