well, I joined the new map, found a base and it was in a cloud of WISPS it was unprotected, and looked virtually untouched(except the fact that someone fluxed it), but we need flux cleaners underground to kill all ze flux so poeple cant use said flux to greif poeple via the wisps
Thaumcraft irritates the hell out of me. We have a neighbor some 200 blocks away who practices Thaumcraft, and badly, and has a high flux level, and we are getting wisps. 200 blocks away!
yeah, if one person does it constantly it will do THE WHOLE MAP I mean, seriously, you cant get rid of it forever, I think someone farmed silverwood and created tons of nodes-duplicating the flux endlessly and killing the map any other ideas on what is doing it?
I really love Thaumcraft, and the latest update adds some really great things. LOVE the golems and was really looking forward to using Arcane Levitators, but given the amount of stupidity some users have with this and the many bugs (chests killing the server, golems crashing clients, wisps all up in everyone's business, trees unable to be planted) it might be best to simply remove the mod. All the unique parts of it are broken basically. On my 5 person server it was great since we all cooperated and tried to make things as safely as possible, but on Alice you have people with no clue fluxing things up and even some people deliberately doing so. I'd accept no Thaumcraft if needed.
we cant change it nao, wait till next update then we can change what mods we have... you want another world reset? oh and I would make the stuff uncraftable, then give a start crucible etc etc so you can just go straight in, fully organised and NO FLUX so any base with flux around it would be found easily; they wouldnt make any flux at all with right stuff
You obviously don't know about TC then... if somebody farmed Silverwood trees, (not possible atm due to a bug tho) there would be no wisps as the trees spawn a pure node which REMOVES all flux in the area. Also, there are only two types of wisps that are aggressive, they are purple and red, the others will only atack if you hit them first. Also, if the TC Alembic wasn't glitched, then there would be a way to prevent flux, but it is bugged so people just have to be careful about the flux they generate. Almost done here but you should know this, flux only generates from unused essentia in a crucible when thaumcraft items are made. try to lower the amount of unused essentia and you will keep the flux low. Finally, if you can find the node(s) you can box them in to contain the wisps as wisps can NOT go through objects. Setting up a tesla coil inside the box is a good idea to farm the wisps as nodes RARELY form from flux and if they do, good job, you are somehow surviving a flux level of (pardon the lame and overused joke, but there is no better way to explain it) over 9000 *cringe*
if you are having a malum or mortum wisp infestation at your base, then ask around, and tell people to be more considerate. Since this is a whitelisted server, if they refuse to be considerate and continue to make said wisps for no reason, then talk to an admin about it and they can do something about it. You seem very worried that random people can come on the server just to make aggro wisps and leave.
no, its just that some poeple have swarms on their bases made by them, hurting poeple who come near you can stop wisps with nodes boxed in, trapping them FOREVAR, and then spam out dat flux for free stuff
Personally, I would somehow make wisps unaible to leave the chunk they are in, through pushing them back into their chunk if they try to leave the chunk! This would cause Thaumcraft users to manage their wisps themselves, but I think it would be hard to do! Or we might make "laws" to respect about the use of flux, like: "to be at least 5000 blocks away from spawn before using flux". This way, unless you want to use thaumcraft, people who wants to stay free of wisps could just build under that limit without getting annoyed. But the people would need to move their bases. If someone has any idea that do not recquire people that did never use flux to be free of wisps, then tell us! Because I don't see why I would make a machina to avoid wisps, where the wisps aren't generated from anything I made, it is like if, in the real life, an apiary was next to your house, so you must buy a lot of chemical products to avoid bee shots! BTW, in real life, there are laws against the use of bees too close to urbanised zones!
erm... not all flux is bad, when living in a pure node like meh; tree and plant/fruit flux make stuff grow faster its just the ignis and potentia that would be bad as targeted lightning at players near spawn... owch; it would ignore the spawn antimob
As a temporary solution, get a paintball shotgun, a suit of armor, and a friend with the same, and go kill those wisps. If you can get a person on both sides of the thing, it can only focus on one of you and the other can blow it away.
Yes, but I will make a city, so I don't think that people living in the city will like the visit of the Red Wisp... Extremely present near my place, unfortunately I know where is generated that bad flux, but I don't know who, nor when he/she will get logged on!
