Can anyone help me with a biofuel/biogas farm? Any setups, machines, specifics that i need to know? The wiki's aren't really telling much.

use a fermenter with fertilizer or compost mixed with plant mater ie plant ball or compressed plant ball
this makes biomass it can be pumped like water i recommend storing it in an iron tank bio fuel is upgrade of it made with mj and bio gas in a still much like a refinery would with oil it can be used to burn for eu or in a biogss engine for mj

    your welcome :p

Use a BC refinery , they are a 4:1 ratio, compared to an 8:1 via the still, I believe.

I would more suggest using the distillation tower from gregtech for a 2:1 ratio, but I'm pretty sure that you don't have the resources so what toma says is a good idea.

A Still is actually better than a Refinery for making biofuel. According to the Forestry wiki, you get 0,25 Biofuel Buckets out of 1 Biomass Bucket with a Refinery, but 0,3 Biofuel Buckets out of 1 Biomass Bucket with a Still.
And if Shadow is right, you get 0,5 Biofuel Buckets out of 1 Biomass Bucket with a Distillation Tower.
So yeah, if you can afford the Distillation Tower and the power supply for that thing, use it. If not, use the Still.

The problem is that with the Still, the exchange doesn't provide any energy benefit. The cost of refining balances the energy gain. You need the distillation tower for the biofuel exchange to be beneficial.

Bio power in general is not the most effective method of generating MJ orEU Personally i would pursue solar or geothermal, i have bio power tho it sits there as stored energy i spouse in a emergency a giant tank will be useful =P

Use boilers, they are a nice and actually require some work, unlike solars that are blocks down and power :p

There are two types of people in this world.
    1. The lazy ones.
    2. The epic ones.
It is up to you to decide between your choices.

That's a bit of a cop-out when you think of it. From what i can tell. "Epic" would suggest people who actually use different power sources, and not just one; Which, yes might be good. But the "epic" could also be called the laggy. That's what we (our group, the gangbangers) did. We had quite a number of EU sources, but it all turned out to be too laggy, so we decided to just use solar.

It's just the same for the "lazy" ones. They may so be lazy in just creating solars. But it also means that they're having less of an impact of the server itself. Which can make all the difference.

So why didn't the gangbangers just build one fusion reactor and call it a day?

We did. But just as we did, we got to the point that we were splitting up to play on our own. So buttons decided to use it and the base was left depreciated.

That's what I mean you all had a reactor, but as you split off from each other you guys went on to make more. So the question I'm getting at is, wouldn't it be better to encourage players to group up? Should a few machines meet the needs of several people instead of breaking off in to small or solo groups?

This concern has already been addressed by sk. He said that having groups of people would encourage the pooling of resources and the eventual increase in the total amount of machines/etc. used per person.

I doubt that would happen. Granted, our base was fairly large and we were using 20% of the server at one point because of buggy diesel generators (and I think logi too) but now that we've we split up, we have a crap ton more machines because we all need what the old base had for each of us whereas if we stayed together in that lag hell, we'd evantually stop building machines because it was all shared and we'd evantually become satisfied. I think Neon's base alone is twice the size and machines of our old base.
