Believe me when I say this is a good day.

Idk how you get around the internet. Lately, i've been having to go over my phone's 3g hotspot since my laptop wifi is completely messed up and even that is faster...

3G is faster than my ADSL connection at the moment too. Only problem is my carrier doesn't allowing Tethering on Prepaid...

Time to switch carriers? Ask your parents since you're only what, 16 or 17?

In Australia there are only 3 carriers:
- Telstra - Amazing mobile coverage and speed (in comparison to their s****y fixed line network which they hold a monopoly on), but (very) pricy
- Vodafone - Cheap, but bad coverage and speed outside of Metro regions, expensive data
- Optus - Cheap Data and loads of MVNOs

However I'm with my carrier (Optus) by choice (on a deal offered by an MVNO). Just waiting for a Jailbreak where I can bypass tether restrictions imposed for Prepaid Users.

Ah, what version of Android are you running? There's apps for rooted phones that allow wifi tethering like the one found here: http://goo.gl/4lac

There's also other tether apps which don't require rooting on the Google Play store like PDANet but i'm not sure they'd work in your case...

Actually, I'm running iOS6 on iPhone 5...
