We're probably going to increase the "timeout" on ChickenChunk-loaded chunks from 15 minutes to perhaps 24 hours. If everything still seems to run fine and dandy after that, then we'll extend the time even more. If not, then we'll roll it back.
I think 15 minutes is too short yet 24 hours is too long. I think having it 24 hours would mean a laggy server as it starts lagging in less time than that sometimes. I think the limit should be 6 or 12 hours.
Sounds good to me... On another note ~Hedgehog, that broadband speed is horrible, FTTH is capable of gigabit, and even FTTLM, I get 60 down a coax and even that's capable of more easily. Virgin media are my ISP too, so basically in short, we're both being ripped off just you to a greater extent
It seems to me that 24 hours will be a little too much; It'll probably b just enough time for people to lo out, go to sleep, wake up and go to work etc, THEN log back in and everything is still loaded. I think 12 hours or less will probably be the best time.
But toma, why would you NEED 1Gbps? 60 downloads most things fast enough. I know my broadband isn't amazing (seen Punk's speed? ) but it does the job Anyway, this conversation is going off topic. 12 hours sounds good. As Neon said, the 24 hour limit is too long; I'm relogging onto the server less than 24 hours after I logged off. I have no chunkloaders myself (dan_the_wolf owns them) but this would mean my chunks stayed loaded.
I'm all for a short timeout. Perhaps with a shorter timeout we might be able to bump the chunk size back to 25? My base is a bit spread out...
True :3 but its not like it costs them anything to give you the speed, they just change how often they block your connection! Yeah, back on topic, 24h would be nice but non-essential, solong as there's no more boiler explosions like last time..?
