Sorry ive been offline (Not that anyone cares) But my dear beloved small computer 'R2D2' as it was known in my network, the Graphics card died. As it was old i really thought it wasnt worth it using money on it. So because of that me my mu and my uncle made a deal that i would do jobs around the house get money once i get £150 my uncle would give me £350 as normally when im 16 he would buy me a laptop as he did to my sister. my mum may throw in some money. So Austin Duncan's PC build for $500 the Photon is it good enough for SKCraft Alice and FTB Monster? Ill hopefully be getting it near my birthday 14 Nov but if its good enough Photon. If there is a better build for more bang for my money. Plz Plz Pl0x tell me.
Looks good enough, apart from all the AMD, buuuuuuut that's just my opinion, it's definitely powerful enough to run everything you want it to.
If you want purely a gaming system you can easily make a budget intel rig. Tell us a total number and we will help ya!
I have £500 to spend but not yet as i need to save up £30 more. I'm thinking building it on Christmas but don't know yet. It might be in the next 2-3 months if my mum don't mind as my keyboard for my current laptop im using is busted. Path when I have the money, I'll PM you about it. Also is there an app for skcraft for like the Ford and announcements for Android? Much wuv, ausoME
I just had the most genius idea. Because i used to use a wireless keyboard and mouse i could just use the actual laptop's keyboard and trackpad. Thanks Path for the app ill use it anyways. About the Computer i will have £500 to use but need to check my cash card tomorrow at teh bank. I will try to be more active on the forums now.
My own 3-year-old computer I built myself cost at the time around 950 GBP (10 000 NOK, Norway is expensive) and I've used about the same amount since then. I also used a forum I was member of to help me building it and they gave me great tips. Tips for creating your own PC in spoiler, other tips below: Spoiler Firstly you need to choose your processor. More cores = better and more speed = better. I would advice atleast a quad-core at around 3 GHz, I still have to use more than 50% of mine (Intel i7-870, 2.93 GHz). You can choose between either AMD or Intel. You can also choose between ATX and mini-ATX, though ATX is the normal size, and often better. Secondly you need to choose your motherboard. I would advice getting one with USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 aswell as PCI-Express 3.0, newest of everything right? Also, check the socket that your processor uses and get a motherboard with that socket, if they don't match then both are worthless. On to RAM. Check the compatible speeds and amount of memory the motherboard can handle and choose out of those. 4 GB is the minimum but 8 GB is better because Alice wuvs RAM. You now need either an SSD or HDD. HDDs are the cheapest of them and I would advice getting one of atleast 1 TB and 7200 rpm. SSD are alot faster than HDD but so much more expensive. You need something to hold your components. I would recommend a midi-tower or big-tower that you like. Big-towers are ofc big and also heavy but give you alot of space for your stuff. Midi-towers are smaller, less space, but are often a little cheaper. You should basicly just get one you like. Your graphic-card! Your choice lies between Nvidia (GeForce) or AMD (Radeon). Here you need to look at memory and bandwith. Higher = better. Try looking for a decent 1 GB or 2 GB graphic-card that isn't too expensive for you. Also remember to check the length of it because some cabinetts have limits in size for this. (I have about half an inch left of space between my graphic-card and the area for the HDDs and SSDs, I was lucky it fit.) Last but not least is your power-suply. Around 500 watts is enough for a normal, cheaper setup you want to have but if you don't feel it's enough you can go up to 750 watts, not really needed since you will most likely be running 1 graphic-card for the moment. Really last but not least. Get the OS you prefer at 64-bit. I repeat: 64-bit. Else all the extra RAM above 4 GB is just a waste. Always check on the internet at different sites for prices of what you want to buy. Make a shoppinglist in each store (or write down somewhere with prices) and compare to see where you can save some money. Shippingcost will probably be added to that price. Also, you could perhaps post your shoppinglist here, lots of people are probably willing to give some advice. If you need monitors a 21" or bigger (not too big) is a decent size (using 21,5" and 23" monitors myself). But feel free to use what you want. Same goes for mouse and keyboard. Get what you like and feels good to use.
