Hmm, that's kind of a special thing. How much RAM Minecraft uses depends on the Java heap size. If you tell Java it may use 1024 MB for Minecraft then it will use these and let unnecessary garbage data stay in memory. Give it less and it will clean leftover data from RAM. This is why Minecraft runs faster if you give it less memory, even though it is counterintuitive.
I think it was path that told me this. But he ran Alice on about 384MB and it ran just fine. I later tried it myself and ended up getting major lag spikes because the garbage collector was having to empty out tons of memory every 5 seconds. Path did warn me that it was purely for proof of concept and he didn't recommend it though.
Flutter for some reason uses 1536MB, not sure why. Must be using a texture pack or some extra mods. When I found out that was how much he used I figured it would be a good idea to do so myself to prevent crashes. I'll try bringing it down to 448MB and see how it runs.
