Now that some people have had to work with chunk registration and its effects, what are some problems and annoyances that you have had?

I'm considering later adding some "on-the-fly" temporary chunk leases, which would allow timers and whatnot to work while the lease is active. The lease would be placed on placement of affected blocks. This way you can quickly play with the blocks for whatever need without having to buy the chunk.

Do you know which timer-based systems are causing the most lag? I think it may be watermills.
We should ban watermill systems. :p

Anything that can run constantly will cause lag, watermills and solar panels are no exception, if you removed them the only way to get power would be from geothermal generators and I doubt anyone would want that.

I wouldn't think solar panels would be quite as bad, considering all the block updates caused by a watermill system...

I think its the oppersite, the solar panels (in large amounts) lag a chunk quite exponentially, and the watermills would only cause lag if they are a part of that automatic system and it was on constantly.

I'd say 9 times out of 10 they (watermills) would be part of an automatic system, but I do know that solar panels cause a bit of lag, but if you bring that up we may as well get CompactSolars again :p

lol well yeah thats the thing, if watermills were disabled then the only option would be to add compact solars to lessen the lag from large amounts of solars, or just have another way of generating eu all together (apart from geo-therms) .

Not saying disable them (I have a couple in a non-automatic system), but just generally discourage them, and give a warning to people who continue to use them and dismantle/disable after a certain time period.

As for alternative energy, Forestry. I needn't say more. (Bio Generators, IC2 Generators supplied with Wood/Peat/Saplings, etc.)

Wel even if they were discouraged from using them someone would still continue somehow.

As for forestry for generating eu, I've tried many times to create a system that runs efficiently enough to be a sustaining power source, and unless you have the resources you wouldn't able to make a sufficient enough system.

I also think the price is too cheap. Becoming "rich" is very easy on Alice- so i suggest a markup. Or maybe a kind of tax/rent?

I would love the possibility to gain access to individual users/ friendlists for only one block (could be useful for doorbells etc.).
I also loved your idea about figuring out, how much CPU each chunk uses. That would be great to figure out reasons for lag.

Bring back the original price. The leasing idea is a good one.

Definitely put a limit on how many chunks you can have, maybe like 50-100 per person?

Because what if someone goes around and claims like 500 chunks?, its best to have a limit.

i think so too. A bored scumbag, that has enough recources could go around everywhere and claim all he can find...a new kind of griefing...<.<

Kekeke, thanks for the idea XD
(seriously, no one that has that many resources would, because that would mean he has common sense to be that long on the server)
