I don't see how, adding ability to send a request to teleport to another player would affect other players on Vincent, I mean its still the same game, right? I get the fact people want to travel to other players by feet, but if you want to do so, go ahead otherwise give the option for others to teleport to other people on the server.
the issue is distance. if we ease up tp-ing that much, u can hav 2 players doing the big work of exploring and/or camping, then when 1 of em find a big place to mine, they all tp to him/her. when they need to go home, they tp to another player. it saves a buncha time, but that is the main issue. nether travel isnt as op because u still need obsidian, a resource that is easy to find but a hassle to mine out. enderpearl travel is also alright because endermen arent exactly easy to find :/
On-Topic: Why not make Vincent a vanilla pussy easy server and alice a hardcore 5min deathban server (or items lost are lost forever which i would prefer) + more, harder mobs. Would be fun and adds also to the balancing because you can automate everything... and noobs would go more likely on vincent because it's easier and you don't have to learn all the mods (less annoying people on alice <.<.).
What I'm asking it, how does it affect the way you play? I mean someone teleporting does not take something from you.
it's distance/time and cost. that is the main issue. food usage would go way down if tp-ing was possible as well, now that i think of it. and while one may say "oh, well, it's less time consuming, it doesn't affect gameplay", consider how long it takes to mine out obsidian. obsidian is very important as a resource, cuz of nether portal fast travel. if obsidian were easier to mine, it substantially gives the player more time to do other stuff. ramping up efficiency might seem like a good thing at first, but there is a point where many of the players here think the efficiency turns the game not-as-fun, too-op.
If you want to mine obsidian faster... use Efficiency IV cuts mining time in half. If you want to fast travel, nether portals, by "saving time" your gaining a huge benifit over someone who takes the time to EARN what they work for... IE fast travel.... (nether portals, mine carts/boats, Potion of Swiftness II etc). I just wish dynmap would be fixed, thats the only real "cheat" i liked, but it doesnt really matter with rei's minimap in the game TL;DR: Don't enable teleporting, because it gives the player an goal and a "tech tree" they have to work through. Make them EARN that.
i do not think easing up on the hardness level would not be good idea it would get boring if you did not have to worry about mobs. having a few more peaceful mobs would make it more interesting ive had to go 1000 k or more to find a cow i think Ive seen only 1 pig in the game. unless i am looking in wrong places. allot of old stores that do not stock what they sell - maybe you could open them up to people who play.
