A thread to post the cobble generators ^^

I have one that generates faster (by flowing lava downwards) makes smoothstone (faster to break) but is a little bit larger than your normal generator... but there is a TINY alternative. also I do have two screenies for proof-if I work out how to post them

how do you post a screenshot straight from a folder? doesn't matter anymore I know how now ^^

also its not about automated cobble gens unless it automatically times itself, which is simple (redstone torch under cobblestone)

    any suggestions?

btw there are two designs here and a few pictures of making one of the types (slightly larger but more efficient)

I built a pretty compact and easily expandable cobble generator. It's 18 cobble gens that is 5x18x2.

you can just have lava flowing down with water next to it... easily stackable cobble generator

I remember having a map with 32 cobble generators stringed together... the result? one diamond every 24 hours :p

    That's a bit slow, isn't it?

I will still use a quarry for my needs. Cobble gens are lag machines in my eyes.

Actually, no quarries cause more lag than cobble gens when you look at it. A quarry can crash the server in 10min with leaky pipes whereas you can have like 45 cobble gens which won't lag the server at all (one minor dependency is the design). I believe wolfenstein has said this already and i am just quoting him. He is a very reliable source as well. Hes basically the reason that everyone on the server is using water mills

    If you aren't a noob, a quarry won't cause a leak.

You put a recycler next to it. And a shitload of chests in between.

I don't know if you have seen the server but a lot of newbies to mods are joining Alice. Half of the time, they are asking for help with something. There is one newbie on our "team", glitch80 who just started joining Alice upon the reset so he is a newbie as well on mods but his rate at which he learns the mods has been tracking up exponentially since he joined so i am not talking about people like him. I am talking about the people who don't give a damn about learning mods and use quarrys which when not used correctly, will crash the server.

How do they turn off your recycler without griefing the cables? The only other way it could turn off is if the power buffer (batbox, mfe, etc.) runs out of power in which case, isn't it your fault?

If you want a system that intrinsically cannot leak, use RedPower tubes exclusively. Items in those pipes cannot exit the system unless a Transposer is inline to push them out, and more than that, block breakers will stop breaking cobble and ingesting it into the system if the Recycler, or if the Chests have no space to receive them.

Be aware that I suggested to a friend to use RedPower tubes in the last world, and he managed to bork it up and thousands of cobble blocks were jammed in the RedPower pipes. That was harder to fix than the leaks.

So please, if you don't know what you are doing, at least use BuildCraft.

...how did he manage that. I'm not sure I can do that deliberately.

Edit: My cobble gen, as current configured and operating:
