Note that Logipipes was extremely server rapey back in the day.

We should get Greg's stargates. Just make the recipe more expensive than it is in the stock installation of the mod, and stuff.

Interesting list, however I am not compelled to play like that, the past was a nice place in its own way, but I'd rather check out the new additions and new mods.

It was quite a hit when I discovered Thaumcraft warp was blocked, as with other disabled features (which I understand are mostly meant for server stability and avoid certain exploits).
If the intention is blocking that much content in this new pack, it doesn't feel like a modpack to me, but a challenge pack.

    No teleportation.

Guys we have to remember, certain players will rush to end game. Once that happens the ideas are broken. Even if we make jetpacks super expensive, everyone will have one soon enough, and nobody would use say railcraft.

These are new mods. You are fairly new to SKC, just remember we want to keep the experience for everyone thoughout the game somewhat similar. We also need to keep some things nerfed. You say you want to use new mods? Why don't you use railcraft? Maybe you haven't before!

Guys most players target the exact same mods every modpack, because then they know how they work, and can get to end game faster.

Maybe it is better, maybe not. Logipipes just fits my ideas the best. Worst comes to worst, we still have project red and tubes. ALthough we may block all the project red tubes.

I think that although the ProjRed tubes can make people slightly lazy, they are perfectly balanced. I mean, look at all the dyes and lumar they require. It's not as easy as AE, where you can just hook up your cables to all your devices and call it a day, for you need to make chips. Then there's the routing tubes and normal tubes you have to build, which requires even more resources, and unless we get IronChests or something to that effect, players won't be able to mass-store a crap-ton of things in one block, like ME drives. ProjRed does not have its own massive storage container.

A while ago around 1.4 time we had an idea to run an additional server that would be much harder although there was never much call for it. We could probably make an additional server something official.

It would be Awesome to see a huge railcraft train system connecting all the bases (kinda like vincent) especially since its only a 5k x 5k map. I really like the concept of railcraft but never found much use for it so this pack i think would be perfect for me.

Edit: Also anyone know about a status update on TE conduit would love to have them back

I would use railcraft.Hell, I'm using it in conjunction to stargates on my modded world right now.

There should be a way to limit stargate usage - make the ore it uses ridiculously rare and non-renewable, and with other, more useful purposes, so that people will think before they use them. Hell, we should make it so it doesn't generate in the mining world either, thus reducing how much people will have even further.

Also, in the vein of Greg's mods, can we also have Greg's lighting.

And Pam's harvestcraft if it's not already there.

The problem with making things hard to craft/obtain is that people at end game can make tons of them. Even if it was iridium rare, people with MASSIVE quarries with tons of upgrades can get quite a bit.

Spawn only in the over world is an interesting idea. I fear that people will tear up the land looking for the materials though, and with a small world that might not be good. What if we limit it so there is a max amount of resources for say 4 stargates, and the community gets to decide were they go?

    EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS:
My goal is to eliminate end game. We don't want the game to end. People at end game give people materials. They make tons of items that aren't needed. We don't want end game.

We want to automate all the things. No auto crafting system from a mod. We don't want a simple ae2 auto crafting system, we want players to make machines to craft items. Tons of pipes, chests, crafting tables, levers, that is what modded minecraft should be!

We don't want the game to play itself! Playing minecraft is not the same as logging in, saying "hi" and afking for hours. Playing minecraft means mining, crafting, and building. We can have material gathering machines that we make our selves, however they shouldn't play the game for us!

    "Lag with pipes"

    - Client side maybe, but the hope is that with the fairly low mod count, we should be able to make up for this.
    - Server likely if tons of pipes and machines are loaded, however disabling chunk loading and moving those afk to spawn can help a ton.

Reducing the amount of naquadah to be enough for like 4 stargates sounds like a good idea, maybe with a bit of extra change in case people lose it or die.

I don't think Alice will ever really achieve that concept because no matter what we always will have super determined players that reach end game in a matter of days or hours, share their effective methods, tinkerers that find bugs that go unnoticed until it's far too late to rollback, etc.

I've been trying to convince SK for a long time to host a different kind of server that combines aspects from a lot of different types of servers that are out there to create immersive, community (or anti-community) driven gameplay for the period of the scenario. We can save different scenario's and switch them out as needed; either continuing an old scenario, or trying a new scenario,.

    Community Scenario: Scorched Earth
Scorched Earth is a post-apocalyptic world with several unique environmental challenges. Years of nuclear war have left the surface of this world nearly uninhabitable. Potent acid rains pour down upon the surface frequently, causing heavy damage to anyone unlucky enough to be caught in their downpour. Radiation will make short work of anyone caught above a certain height, unless they have radiation medication. Starving radiated creatures find a way to sneak up on anyone that lets their guard down.

It's no wonder that few adventurers chose to leave the comfort of a massive sewer system that runs under a large mountainside military bunker. We have come to call this unlikely home Defendus. Unfortunately, the mountain that Defendus resides under is very barren. There are few local resources, above or below; and the stockpiles that were brought down from the military base are running out.

Food, radiation medication, precious metals, armor and weapons can all be acquired, but it's not going to be easy. The most resource rich areas tend to be dangerous; located in radiation zones, near radiated creatures, or on the surface where acid rain can come at any moment. There are several key-areas located at varying distances from Defendus. One such area is the Quafi Jungle where a radiation-eating microorganism that is essential in the development of radiation medication is located.
    _____

From there we would take a look at what plugins and such we can edit, create, or use to make a scenario like that interesting. So far I can see that we would need:
    - Unique environmental generation that makes most metals and ores spawn between a certain height range (closer to the surface). Mining in this range is easy as long as you have radiation medication. The environment would scarcely have trees and biomes with foliage.
    - A plugin that causes random and frequent acid rain which damages the player (and potentially mobs?) if they are being hit by it.
    - A plugin that causes the player to quickly lose hunger and take radiation damage if they aren't below a certain world height; or don't have anti-radiation medication active.
    - A mod that allows us to turn plants (trees, flowers, etc) into radiation medication via a tiered; slow system that can be upgraded at the cost of resources and energy.
    - A plugin that changes the appearance of the monsters that normally spawn to something a bit more mutated looking, and increases their frequency, stats, and drops.

Once the scenario actually starts the hope would be that as a community we decorate and make the scenario more believable. The goal isn't so much for us to spend many hours creating a spawn and such for each scenario - we really just need the basics - for instance for this map we would want:
    - A large mountain with a basic tunnel system to serve as the spawn. Let the players expand these tunnels, carve out their own homes and branches to create a living, breathing community. Perhaps they have to purchase chunks using some resource?
    - Some plugin-generated or player-made points of interests that have lots of mob spawners and/or environmental barriers. Perhaps there's a solid wall of bedrock that forces the players to dig up into the radiation zone to reach a resource rich area, or an abandoned train rail that needs to be repaired and reclaimed from the mob (spawners) and doing so will provide us with a direct route to a jungle which has good resources. These are the only things that should really be kept "secret" to an extent by the Scenario Pack Team.

Figure out some things that will make it more challenging. Perhaps weapons/armor are harder to make, or there's a recipe for an anti-radiation helmet that uses some of the tech mods we love so much. Gregtech pisses on everything so it's probably great.

Just an example. I get that it'd probably be a lot of work, and some things probably aren't even doable. Once we worked out the kinks though, and created a decent scenario we could actually save it and allow us to come back to it after a month; where the Scenario Pack Team has changed some things and thrown us a curve ball. We will learn something new each time the scenario is done, and it could be fun to remove/change something that made the scenario too easy and see how people feel about starting the scenario over a few months down the line with the changes put in place.

The goal is temporary short periods that will keep people interested, looking forward to the next scenario, having their favorite scenarios, and learning from each scenario to produce better ones. The server doesn't even have to be up all the time. It could have 2 weeks up, 2 weeks down periods; so people could go back to Alice or Vincent in between.

    It's o_O Just ;) A  Thought

    Okurr?

STARGATES LET MINECARTS TRAVEL THROUGH THEM! (and yes i tested it, the minecart goes through and then attaches itself to the rail on the other side)

I was using a GregTech ZPM to power my stargates, and gregtech adds naquadah as well, so obviously we should get gregtech

I might be getting too sidetracked here

Hahaha geddit because there were rail tracks there

Back in 1.4.7 glitch, gk, shad and I made a huge autocrafting setup with logipipes and around 2-300 crafting tables. Every time we crafted something it made the server spike heavily resulting in a drop of around 10 tps, so just bear that in mind.

This sounds hilarious! Also, Logistics Pipes is a LOT better performance-wise these days. I loved huge auto-crafting setups, they were the greatest.
I agree with most of what is going on here.
