Ok. The Xeon is 20 quid cheaper on Amazon then the i5 4440 so I'll stick with the Xeon. I'll use the extra 20 pounds for a Headset.

10 pounds extra shipping for the Xeon makes the i5 4440 and the Xeon the same price. Which one is more worth it?

If you saw that video that siioh linked to you you would see that the xeon out preformed the i7 very slightly playing i think it was bioshock or something like that. So yeah......

whups just realized something which means a have even worse memory than you XD. I checked the video and the xeon they used was the 1275 not the 1220 which you have selected. and I do recall something path said about the 1220 (or was it 30?) about the equivelenant of an i5... sorry for the confusion. :(

:p meh the Xeon and the i5 are literally nearly the same price. Tomorrow I'll see the benchmarks results and compare them.

Here's some stats, take note that neither support memory faster than 1600MHz though...

I'm using Kingston Fury DDR3-1600 so I'm ok with that ram.

Post merge(kinda):[IMG][IMG] Obviously the Xeon outperforms the i5, so that means I'm getting the Xeon!

The Xeon outperforms the i5 and is the same price. I could ditch the keyboard and mouse until I get more money for one as I have a wireless mouse lying around and a PS/2 keyboard somewhere? And get a 290.

Edit: Tbh I'll just stick with a 280 for now unless something happens and i get £40

I would get the 290. You can't just save 40 pounds and spend it later, if you get the R9 280, you have to spend the full price of the R9 290.

The R9 290 can max out the settings of bf4 btw :p

Ok I'll use the spare keyboard and mouse and get a 290!

Ok yea, go with the R9 280, I might do a bit more research in a bit. Just keep in mind that if you spend say 160pounds, instead of the 180pound card, you can't just spend 20pounds to upgrade.

Agreed, however, a good idea would be to get a moderately strong graphics card now, and by the time it is unable to handle the future, you buy yourself another of it and SLI/CrossFire ftw! :D

(Of course you'll most likely run into problems with certain apps not supporting SLI/CrossFire...but still!)

So I'm getting the 280 but I checked with my sister. Her discount for Amazon of only for stuff like dvds, food, clothing, stationery, diy but not computers. So ill skip the keyboard and front panel sd card and such reader for now. My wishlist is probably the best place to check for my build.

Changed the motherboard to have 2 PCI x16 slots so I can crossfire if I want to in the future. Will change wishlist soon.
