(and don't even get me started on ugly bases)

Seriously, making a not laggy base is not difficult. You don't need to put everything you own into a single chunk. Would it kill you to spread your bases out more and not build massive laggnets?

Did you post this because of something specifically? or did you just spontaneously get fed up with peoples lagfests?

Stop making laggy bases? Might as well just play Vanilla then. Since with mods, that's almost impossible.

I just enjoy having a bigger, more open base with loads of rooms with different stuff. But if I'm building something laggy, I make sure to put it right next to talon's base! :p (jk)

It doesn't make a differnce if they put it in one chunk or 3, 9, 11 ect it is what is loaded by the player or chunk loaders.

If a base is built in 1 chunk or 20 chunks its still the same serverside lag if not more with 20 since the owner will want all 20 loaded. The impact on the server will not differ from the same set of machines in 1 chunk than it will across 10 although it is better for the client to have spread.

To bad we can't have mods in snapshots I hear Mojang is doing optimization and people are getting 500+ FPS easy

I think talon was talking about lag when loading in chunks at certain bases. I have that too. Some times when I load in OB after I go through the portal my game tends to freezes up a few moments because of certain chunks beeing loaded. Clientside it would help spreading stuff out, but serverside (as you said) is wouldn't.

Well even if it doesnt benifit the server I think it makes your base look nicer. like talons is spread out and I think his base is my favorite on the server (of the ones Ive seen) I like walking down a path to a different area of a base and seeing all the building go by and stuff like that.

You don't need everything chunkloaded anyway. Personally I would rather not have them.

I like the ability to have them but I agree tger use should be vary limited to something like just ur as systems main hub (all in 1 chunk ) ergo main storage and crafting if u have it other wise u don't need it
