Dose anyone have any idea when the next update is and if the reset for nether will happen in it?

SK is too busy with other things than Alice, and most MPT members (including me) simply don't care about Alice 1.6 anymore. I don't think there will be any kind of update or reset for quite a while.

I'm keeping an eye out for 1.7 mods however it is still a bit lacking, a majority of the community seems to be staying at 1.6. However there have been several ports to 1.7 recently, even still given how we updated in the past we're a ways off from 1.7+

Don't we normally update when the next minecraft update happens?(next update meaning 1.8 now).Cause it's normally around that time that all the mods are done updated plus the Minecraft Coder Pack is getting updated.

In general the modpack updates when a significant majority of the mods users want are available. 1.7 is still lacking in that department; we'll see what the future brings.

My personal opinion is that we have too many mods, and need to pare down the list significantly. Especially mods with heavy overlap, like TE, IC2, Mek, and RC. They are all unique and special, but how many snowflakes do we need? As much as I love TE (I voted it as my favorite mod), I would rather that we settled on one or two of these industrial mods and pared the rest out. I would vote TE and Mek, or TE and IC2.

Another alternative is to take a poll... and not a player poll, but check the game. Export all the blocks in the world, and see which are in demand. If 1% of players have bothered to place IC2 blocks, maybe it's not a good choice to include at all. If players use a single block from a mod, but ignore everything else it has, then perhaps it's not worth adding the mod for a single block. I suspect there are a lot of examples along that line for many of the smaller mods.

i say we drop mekanism TE and IC2 i consider necessitates. mekanism is cool and all with those universal cables but i figure it doesnt add to much to the pack (i hate the mekanism textures and i cant stand john smith) but i agree with the poll. and also AE2 came out and i really want to check that out so i hope we update soon!

What I think should be removed?

I say we drop all the bee addons. If we have disabled ore bees, the main purpose of bees entirely pretty much, then why would we need the big bee addon if most of the bees in it are ore bees? It just takes up more load time and space on our tiny hard drives.

Also, if Mek goes then IC2 should go as well. Most of our power generation is from TE and other RF-producing things. IC2's power generation is absolute crap and cannot do anything good.

Railcraft could go, but then we would have to get another claiming currency.

EDIT: Removing chisel, carpenter's, and microblocks are a no-no.

Buildcraft should stay only because of the awesomesauce filler.

Thermal Expansion should be part of every single tech-oriented modpack. If it is dropped I will officially quit.

Get rid of chisel, microblocks, and carpenters blocks?!?!? are you bloody insane? If they are bad on your computer don't use them, let the people who's computer are alright with them use them, don't punish them for your lacking hardware. (My computer fairly lacking in hardware, it does OK with them, but I still keep them to a minimum, just for little accents)

Also microblocks are required for TE conduit routing, without them loops are almost impossible to avoid, and loops + routing algorithms = bad on server, and routing does not work. Also microblocks/multipart are pretty much ingrained into forge/mcpc+ now. When we update to 1.7 multipart will be absolutely required.

Chisel AFAIK has absolutely no performance impact, it is quite literally just re texturing blocks, and variety is the spice of life.

Same goes with me if TE is removed i will not play as often or not at all its my all time favorite mod. i also like IC2 just for the machines like the recycler and stuff i dont think it should be removed. and for railcraft all I use that mod for is the blocks and tanks. I have never played with gregtech i heard it is and ic2 add on i dont htink we need it also i agree drop bees. Also i still think we should remove mekanism

GregTech will never be easy unless you don't even install it.

IC2 = mass fab and........ nothing? Its basically the same mod from 1.2.5, really. Besides, player (IC2 dev) is an ass (IMHO, of course).

GT = intentional crashing of game, along with world corruptions caused by same. Just No. (Not opinion, this was declared by Greg himself - he figures forcing a game crash is not malware) I want no part of that, arguments about difficulty, tech trees, etc. aside. No GT on my computer whatsoever.

TE = RF, the current power standard for most mods today. Those that don't use it internally support it or MJ, which TE supports internally. Would be a bit silly to ignore that. While KingLemming declared he is out after 1.7, he is planning to turn it over to a team that is already working with him, so the torch will be passed on smoothly.

Buildcraft = FILLER!! Noone has anything that even comes close to this thing, so useful! BC pipes suck, most of the rest of BC is...stale? outdated? But....FILLER!!!

Railcraft = fair number of blocks I like, good for steel production if you can wait, brings steam power to the table, too. Its a keep imo.

Rotarycraft = very nice models (at the cost of lag, unfortunately), a fresh take on just about everything, and once you figure it out, not too hard to use. Lots of fun stuff here. I likes.

Mek = nerfed all to hell anyway, so why bother? I do like factories though.

Bees = same as Mek, but even worse.

ProjectRed = RedPower3, basically. Lots of good stuff with a good look, and has redstone logic boards! Makes redstone easier, more compact, and just all around better. Going back to vanilla redstone would suck!

Thaumcraft = most fun mod I have played with in a long time, be stupid (IMO, of course) to remove it and the add-ons for it. Currently a core mod for the server, in fact if not by design (Don't know if intended that way or not).
Perhaps other magic to add to the fun?

    Chisel = Keep that!!!

Carpenters = Slopes!! Back away from the slopes! No Touch!!

Mariculture = at least we have SOMETHING in the water now! Seriously, this is a good thing, and adds a little bit of tech, too. We need more of this - ocean should not be more barren than the deserts.....

Tinker's Construct = lotsa good stuff, customizable tools, etc. Important for getting started, useful later. And, has TRULY CLEAR GLASS. No windows with birdcrap smeared all over!!
