Ok, I am not associated with the staff/MPT in any way, but since the update many people have been reporting FPS issues I have decided to make this post.

This post is meant as a way to consolidate information regarding players with the issue and their bases/computers/settings to find the common denominator between them to help get to the root of the issue.

If you are having FPS issues, please fill out this survey. Please fill out to the best of your ability, the more information we have the better the chance of finding the correlation.

    1. What is your OS and computer specifications? (CPU speed, cores, memory(Plus architecture, 32 or 64 bit, AMD/Intel, etc))

    2. What video card do you have?

    3. What is your java version?

    4. What are your memory settings for SKCraft? (default is 1024mb for memory, 128mb for permgen)

    5. Please list all mods that are in use at your base, or on your person. (IE, Mekanism, rotarycraft, thaumcraft, etc)

    6. Do the problems persist if you make a single player world? (preferably flatland/peaceful, and give it several minutes to let worldgen settle.)

    7. If you can, please post a log of the game starting up, and several minutes of gameplay on SKCraft. (Do your best to provide these, they are the most helpful.)

    8. Do you have any additional mods installed? (Optifine, etc)

    9. Are you, or other people, having FPS issues in a specific area? If so please post the coordinates of that area.

I realized I left some off. Please answer #1 again, and if you can, please provide logs as they help the most.

What is your overall system memory? Also, are you using a custom texture pack?

The reason why I ask this is if you are not using a custom texture pack, you should not need to assign more than 2 gigs to MC, and 256 to permgen, assigning more than that can actually be detrimental to system performance in my experience.

    **edit**

Shaders mod? really? so many things go wrong with that, and they have not done much optimization for 1.6, yet have done tons for 1.7. Even with shaders 8 gigs for MC seems over the top.

    1. Windows 7 64 bit / Mint 15 64 bit Ubuntu based
(running SKCraft on both, but mostly on Mint since my Windows HDD has problems. The issue occured on both OS thoughh)
CPU is AMD Phenom 9850 4x2,5 GHz
    RAM is 4 GB DDR2
    2. Nvidia Gforce GT 630 2 GB
    3. Java 8
    4. 1,5 GB for memory, 128 mb for permgen.
    5. Mostly Mekanism and IC2, railcraft coke oven and BC transport for storage automation.
FPS drops occur when burning something in an IC2 electrical furnace, stepping on my meka chargepad,
burning coal in a meka heat generator or using my simple meka power setup (Ocean i.a.B., electrolytical thingy and Hydro generator)
    6. Made a single player world and placed the same machines, no fps drops.
    7. Log will follow tonight, but it doesn't show anything suspicious when FPS-drops occur.
    8. No
    9. They happen as stated above in my base as soon as one of the machines run. Would like to test, if it happens to me in a strangers base, will do that tonight.

My usual FPS are 70 to 100, depending on the chunk loading around me. Descriped FPS drops go down to 9 and make it unplayable. I did not yet have the chance to test if it happens to one of my basemates too, will do that tonight.

    • Bad and ugly code
    • Laggy client spam bugs
    • Rare but huge waves of server console spam
    • Bad packet sending/handling system
    • Doesn't play well with MCPC+
    • Several server crashing/freezing bugs
    • High RAM usage (in the past at least, not sure about now)
    • Heavy rendering code
    • Rendering issues with some other mods
If this FPS issue happens to be yet another issue with our good friend RotaryCraft, I really think it would be time to move on. It's up to you guys to decide if having all these bugs and issues is worth having the mod at all.

    1. Windows 7 64bit OS. 4 core AMD Athalon processor. AMD Radeon R7 200 Series graphics. 6 GB of ram.
    2. AMD Radeon R7 200 Series
    3. Java 8 64 bit(From oracle)

    4. 3,048 MB of Ram. 256 MB Perm Size but I think java 8 ignores this?

    5. Mekanism, TE, Chisel.

    6. I did not have issues on a flat land world. Even with the 128x Soartex texture pack I got 50+ fps.

    7. If you can, please post a log of the game starting up, and several minutes of gameplay on SKCraft. (Do your best to provide these, they are the most helpful.)

    8. No

    9. Lags just as bad anywhere I go.
I was just on alice and it was sort of playable(Better than yesterday). There is still a very large fps drop.
Attached is the only log I could find.

I don't have access to my full specs atm but the latest update has brought my 8 core thing down to only 200 fps, before it was like 400-500

I would miss it, but it would by no means be a devastating loss. Like EnderIO I really enjoy some of it's features, but save for a few items like the bait box, everything it does is currently covered by other mods, especially now that we have big reactors. (Except for the OP early access armor/sword)
