Here's the scoop on the re-balancing of Alice:
    • It is strongly likely that we will resetting Alice within the next week. While it pains us to do so, it will provide us with a chance to correct problems with the original modpack.
    • A world typically lasts up to a year or more, but unfortunate circumstances have developed at this time.
    • As we strongly value the time put into all of your work, we would like to provide the opportunity to copy over builds from the current world.
Machines and things of that nature are not eligible, but we will happily move over structures that you have been working on (up to the point of reset). In addition, we will be able to terraform any areas for you that you may have painstakenly terraformed on the current world.

If you have builds that you would like to transfer over (which does not include machines), please post on this thread and provide a picture and coordinates. Do the same for any large terraforming projects that you have already conducted or are in the process of conducting. Nothing is being moved over at this time, but this information will allow us to know the scope of this operation.

Should the reset occur before we are able to make arrangements for your builds, do not worry as it can still be done after the reset.

If you're worried about the work that you may have put into making machines, the new modpack will feature the removal of the overly tedious recipes that were added in 1.5 and 1.6. We will also try our best to remove duplicate items (i.e. ingots) as we used to in Alice 1.4 and before, which should help with decoding recipes. Last but not least, we plan to add many new (and interesting) mods that have not yet made an appearance on Alice.

Could I please ask that build borders are marked with a 1x1 tower that is clearly visible. This will make our lives much easier when trying to get everything in the schematic without cutting it off!

I built nothing but machines. Sigh. I wish I was a better architect.

On a different note, when choosing which material type to standardize on, can we use the one with the more general icon? A example annoyance for me is Railcraft iron plates, when every other plate uses the IC2 style. It's a tiny thing, but appreciated if possible.

Another thing to pay attention to is matching the ore used in world-gen with the ore created by mining lasers to avoid a mismatch there. I think that's where the mismatched Nickel, Rubies, and Cinnabar are coming from.

    Myr, that has to do with Railcraft not liking the other plates apparently. I haven't done it with this texture pack, but I just textured over the RC icons with the IC2 icons, lol. <_<;;

Also, a question: I have a large build that I am designing in preparation for the reset, but I'm wondering since you're moving builds over, if I could just stock a chest with the Reinforced Stone to move over as opposed to build the structure itself, then have to dismantle it on the other side to move it to where I want it to be?

Changing the input of recipes (Railcraft) is no different than changing the output of recipes (standardizing crafting results). If Railcraft doesn't work well with the Ore Database, you can just change the inputs to use the item ID that is standardized on for the output. It is a bit of extra work though, I agree, and like I mentioned it's a tiny thing (though appreciated).

Subterranean base with surface access/temp tree farm from -1426,-1071 to -1359,-1138. screenshots show corner views and main floor view, with 1x2 stone towers and f9 chunk borders displays to help gauge locations/distances. Base extends from surface to bedrock. Base would really only fit in at a flat wasteland biome, temp tree farm extends past cords and claim, but not necessary to be carried over as I was in the process of moving it inside the base.
According to the post, it would seem to suggest the copy pasta to the new map would include the base itself, but not machines, I had a couple questions about that, so I can best determine how to spend my remaining time on this map.

Does this include machines in inventory systems/chests?
Machines that use multiblock casings, would the casings remain in place?
What about coke ovens/normal blast furnaces?
Are non-machine items in inventories/chests also wiped?
I suppose a general definition of what constitutes a machine would be nice.

Given this forum post, it really doesn't seem logical to work on any tech at this time, should I just hollow out more floors so I'll have extra space for the next map, seeing as I'll have to start my tech from scratch?

384 66 143 - 481 69 46 if possible I'd like to keep clay, dyes, and quartz since those are the more annoying materials to get.

The idea is to primarily preserve aesthetic and terraforming endeavors, so things like machine casings, inventories, would fail to transfer over.

What I was planning was to write some code to directly copy over areas, but a block whitelist would be enforced, so any block that is simply not in the whitelist disappears. However, depending on that is accomplished, it could potentially be a lot of work, so the point here is to simply survey the number of builds that we need to copy over so I can figure out what to do.

It's being considered but I can't say if it is going to make it in yet.

So I would need to actually build the structure for it to be eligible to transfer over, as opposed to a chest full of the single material type? (Reinforced Stone)

Edit: Though, I suppose that depends if you copy them over at all. I'll be patient.

/me builds a complex tower out of diamond blocks, iridium blocks and steel blocks.

I would say your building would have to be mostly complete at this point and not just an attempt to start the next world with a stock pile of complex building materials please.

    I wouldn't categorize Stone/Reinforced Stone as complex. :C

Or useful for anything other than building.

I'll explain my situation: I've been designing a series of modular wall structures (using the Schematica mod) that can be built rapidly, and used to quickly erect an enormous fortress wall, several hundred blocks long in each direction.

This wall is made up of an outer layer of Reinforced Stone with an inner core of Stone. I was going to build this anyways. However, in light of 1) the server is going to be reset, and 2) Reinforced Stone takes an insane amount of time to dismantle once placed for the amount of blocks I'm dealing with (tens of thousands), I'd like to move over the materials rather than a finished structure.

I will happily build out the entire wall if the materials alone is unacceptable, but because I'd like to scout out a new location to build in on the new world, and that'll involve some terraforming and adjusting how the wall is build in the context of what is presently unknowable, I'd like to be able to just move materials. :C

While they're not truly advanced, you can use them in some recipes, such as the replicator, or pattern storage from IC2, also it's used in the crafting of many advanced blocks.

It's used in four recipes. None of which I am interested in making. I'm making this: http://i.imgur.com/IIMizut.png

Also you wouldn't need more than 64 blocks for those recipes in your entire machine making lifetime, basically. I just setup automanufacturing and am at 5k Reinforced stone and climbing. As I said, I'm making a wall.

While I don't think Kirararararara's request is unreasonable it opens the gate for other materials, and it would likely end up with someone (Not I) dealing with all the material requests.

I personally would also like to keep glowstone blocks but I could see how that might be used to 'advance' quickly.

Yes and no. As I mentioned, Stone/RS aren't particularly useful for anything but building when you have large amounts of them. Glowstone blocks on the other hand...

Inb4 I ruin it for everyone and nothing gets transferred over.

Which blocks in buildings can be transferred?
I would like to see a list of transferred blocks.
[humor] I built a house out of diamond blocks, can it transferred? [/ humor]
