Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit. I'm just ??
I'm gonna go out on a pessimistic branch and say probably not enough to run this. I have 2gb of ram on a 32bit operating system.
2 GB RAM is enough to run Alice. My old PC had 2 GB and I didn't have any problems playing. Well, I use Linux as well, that probably helps too. Make sure you have the newest launcher from here Open the launcher and click the Options button in the bottom right corner Set the "Minimum Memory" value (default is 1024) to 512 MB, maybe even 256 if it still doesn't work. Try to close other programs you are running, e.g. your web browser. They also use memory which Alice needs. Also, I think we need some kind of general FAQ that can help people fix their JVM heap issues.
What Linux distro do you use? I'm afraid Vista is a very bitchy piece of OS as it continues to give me the same error.
How much free RAM do you have before running the game/launcher? Try turning down max RAM (to something like 512MB) and then turning off the texture pack and lowering draw distance if you can get into the game.
There's your problem. Apart from Windows ME, Vista is probably the worst Windows ever - even Steve Ballmer acknowledged that. I'm using Xubuntu. It's lightweight and perfect for desktop PC use (normal Ubuntu is best for touch). If you don't know much about Linux and are afraid to install it, you can try it first - burn it to a DVD or put it on a bootable USB drive (there's loads of tutorials on how to do that), then boot from your disc/drive and click "Try Xubuntu" after it loaded. You'll see it is very easy to use, easier than Windows even. A normal user doesn't usually have to open a terminal. And if something breaks, there are tutorials for anything online. If you don't play any games except Minecraft or other games which have Linux versions, it might just be the perfect OS for you. If you need any help you can send me a PM, I'm making a point to help everyone who wants to try Linux. If you find you'd rather stay with Windows, you should get Windows 8, it's much faster than Vista.
Well, if anything both OS's have there ups and downs, its more a preference of with one you like more. Anyway for Rhune's issue, I have been talking to her on how to get it to run on her vista, if all else fails I'll instruct her on how to set up a live USB and test it out to see if she likes it. If she does I'll tell her how to create a secondary partition to install the OS on to her hard-drive. But if that fails i have no idea what to do.
I can launch the new world in single player, but when I try to log in to multiplayer I get an error message. What can I do?
Tried setting the memory limit to 512, here is what I am presented with... The game is running. Please wait.
