I'd like to suggest inclusion (by default) of MCPatcher in the final version of Alice. Specifically the Connected Textures and HD Font features. I'm building out my 64x Faithful pack with a number of CTM features, and a 64x font. These don't work natively in Minecraft, and Optifine's implementation leaves a lot to be desired. There is however one issue in as much as compatibility is concerned. For whatever reason, Teleport Tethers from Additional Pipes, and Illuminator Frames from Thermal Expansion are invisible when MCPatcher is installed. :C
I don't think we will be able to do this for the release. It would require optional minecraft.jar mods to be added to the launcher, which is quite difficult to do. And we don't really want to 'force' render bugs upon players because of that. That said, we're not supporting OptiFine anymore either. It got just too buggy and crashy in 1.6, we have not added it to the optional mods list. You can still add it manually, but you will be kindly reminded that you shouldn't report client crashes upon joining a game.
A lot of the mods included connected textures by default now (extra utilities, MFR, Tinkers Construct; To name a few). So it'll be most likely that vanilla glass will be the only glass without connected textures
But we don't have Tinker's Tinkers' Construct anymore since it breaks other mods. Bit sad, I always loved clear glass (and the axes, but that's another topic). Do the other kinds of glass look somewhat good? Me wants beeg windows. I could care less about other CTM'd vanilla stuff, but glass...
I never said we did, I was simply listing some of the mods that have built-in connected textures. But it doesn't actually break other mods. The MPT are just scared to add it in case it does, then shit will be their plate. I've been using TiC with all the mods people have said it 'breaks' for the past month in a SSP world; And I have had 0 problems whatsoever.
