    Hey,

After reading yami's thread http://skcraft.com/threads/new-mods.2752/ I thought I would post a few ideas of my own.

Firstly, Compact Windmills is a good mod: (website)

    It adds new windmill variations:

The only problem I can see with this mod is the crafting recipies; some of the higher-tier windmills may have to have their recipies edited, which you can now do with your new 1.6.4 mod (admins confirm this? I'm not 100% sure) as they become ridiculously easy to craft as you go further up.

Next, Nurchaz's mod Red I/O. (website)
It's a cool mod that adds a peripheral that lets you use the Redstone API remotely - very handy on SKcraft since computers cost a diamond each!

And finally, copygirl's mod Better Storage (website):

Better Storage adds crates, backpacks, lockers, locks, keys and a whole bunch more.

I'm open to suggestions and ideas!

Notice to any admins: how can I edit the poll? I accidently pressed Enter while I was entering the poll entries and it posted the thread.

I'll just finish the poll for you :) I don't know if normal users can edit them.

Compact Windmills has been considered several times, but it was denied every time. I don't know the exact reasons though. (And yes, we have a very versatile recipe changer mod this time.)

Red IO has been in the 1.5 testing pack, but got taken out later because of another mod that added the same behavior. That mod turned out to be bugged, though, and got taken out. I will try this mod out for 1.6.

Better Storage looks interesting to me. We already have backpacks and locked chests, but these backpacks seem to be better. I also kinda like how the crates work. I will discuss this mod with the others.

Personally I think we don't really need Better Storage, even though I'm not against using it. We already have so many backpacks - not just the Backpack mod, but also TCon knapsack, ExtraUtils Golden Bag of Holding, Factorization's Bag of Holding, and the loads of specialised backpacks from Forestry/Railcraft/MiscPeripherals/ComputerCraft. We have Iron Chests for larger storage options (well, and AE), Jammy's Furniture adds some good-looking but small storage furniture. We can lock chests with [Lock] signs, though that's not the most elegant/beautiful thing...

But still - the unique backpack functionality seems great, and I also kinda like the crates. The mod is still labelled as WIP though, so maybe it's not stable enough.

The Windmills mod seems very interesting, and as long as they are not too heavy on the server and your very versatile recipe changer mod can make them a balanced experience, I would really love to see them added. Gives us a break from solar panels as the single expensive but set-and-forget power source. (If it isn't - I don't know all the mods by heart yet.)

I've played a 1.6.4 modpack with Better Storage installed and it seems stable enough. Compact Windmills could be really OP (there is an EV windmill later up) but for the tier 1 and 2 windmills i'd like a simple but slightly expensive (no iridium please :p) recipie, then later on it gets more expensive (but still no iridium until EV). I would suggest using amber and diamond(s) for lower tiers, then adding emeralds and on EV add iridium.

Obviously, we still don't know if we'll have Compact Windmills

Hmm, ultimate solars require lots of iridium already, and it produces HV, so an HV windmill should be similarly expensive. Maybe a bit cheaper as they require much more space than solars, and also some maintenance for the rotors. For EV windmills, I dunno, they either have to be extremely expensive or simply banned because people would just slap some EV windmills on their roof and never have a reason to build a fusion or other endgame power gens.

That was kinda my point - and yes maybe EV windmills would have to be banned as 2048eu/t windmills would be OP. Also considering Greg has removed the Matterfabricator so we only have the IC2 matter fab now, making it easier to aquire UU matter for iridium. (hurrah! :p)
HV windmills should have iridium in their recipie, though MV and LV shouldn't (as I said, amber and diamonds for lower tiers).
Though, on alice ATM people are talking about building a 4th fusion reactor... :p

You poor poor soul. In regards to how easy it was to get UU-Matter in previous versions even with gregtech, it's amount 3 times harder in IC2-EXP.

To name a few reasons why.

    1. Creating Iridium now requires 3 blocks, not just the mass fabricator. It now requires the Pattern Storage, Replicator and Scanner.
    2. 1 piece of iridium ore needs 22 buckets of liquid UUM, not to mention the fact that it needs 1000k EU to create the iridium in the replicator.
    3. The mass fabricator now requires an amplifier to work by default (not the mention the EU cost to make 1 bucket of UUM will be undoubtedly changed by the MPT I suspect).
    4. Do not forget that now that Gregtech does no longer have the Matter Fabricator, the Mass Fabricators recipe has been changed to be harder by gregtech. So it's added difficulty.

As long as I can pour a UU moat around my iridium castle, I have no problem with any of that.

    Oh.
Although I like to think i'm good at IC2 and other tech mods, clearly I'm not. On 1.5 Alice I have no matterfab. :/
