We've identified an issue with high bandwidth usage in ComputerCraft or ComputerCraft add-on, but much more likely to be an addon. You may have noticed greater usage in your Internet bandwidth usage for the past few weeks, and this may be the cause.

As soon we find it, we may need to remove the problemtic mod.

The mod? Likely not for most people.

The bandwidth issue? Only if you keep getting disconnected because of it.

Is there a reason that the problem has manifested itself more now, if we've had the mod for a while, why has it only started the problems up now?

I do know people have started using active cryptographic accelerators as decoration...
They look very... interesting when active. If the way it looks is for some reason constantly being synchronized between clients, I reckon that would be bad. Very bad.

They are normally used to allow ComputerCraft computers to encrypt and decrypt things. When they are active, they have a lot of funny little blinking lights. And who doesn't love little blinking lights.

Welp, I had four crypto accelerators as decorations in my base.
They never gave me any problems until I logged in today, and noticed my FPS was fluctuating between 3-20 until I left my base, where it then increased to over 100.
While Leo and Dem were searching for a cause, I decided to break the accelerators. Everyone's FPS instantly jumped to normal levels.

Keep in mind, I'd had them there for a few days and this never happened before.

Am I the only one NOT using them as decoration? :p

Anyways, if it turns out to be the immibis' perhipherals mod, check the configs to see if there's an option to disable that animation before you remove it. I'd imagine that there would be an option for that since there is for the blackhole chest.

I don't. :) And I do sure hope that this bandwidth usage data is granular enough to distinguish between different classes of common parent.

I looked through the code and I didn't see a reason for bandwidth usage. The blinking lights are client-side from what I saw.

    I have to investigate further.
