So most of you should know by now that the update to Minecraft 1.5.2 is probably going to happen within then next few weeks. The mod pack team has been hard at work to get the update done. Some significant things are going to happen once the update is releasing. Here's a list of things that you might want to prepare for (even if the chunk marking thing ends up not happening after all).

    - The first and probably most important thing that is going to happen, is the removal of RedPower 2. This will, however, not have quite as big as an impact as most of you may think. Mods that replace the wiring, logic, lighting, microblocks, and parts of the machinery of RedPower are already in place for 1.5. (And most of these mods actually do it better than RedPower did.) Basalt and Marble and their variations, Copper, Tin, Silver, Tungsten and Nikolite, Ruby, Green Sapphire and Sapphire, and Sickles should not be lost when we update, as we installed a mod that has all that and copied over the block and item IDs.

    - Because we are losing RedPower, we are also losing Wireless Redstone ChickenBones Edition. But don't worry, we have installed the classic version of Wireless Redstone, so you won't lose this functionality.

    - Also note that any Canvas Bags will be lost. We have added the Backpacks mod as a replacement for that, but you will still have to get your items out of your Canvas Bags if you don't want to lose them.

    - Transformers, the mod with electric engines and pneumatic generators, is going to be removed in favor of Power Converters. Power Converters has already been added in the latest (and last) 1.4.7 update, so people can adapt their systems. Note that Power Converters is not limited to converting EU and MJ back and forth. It can also convert energy to Factorization charge and Railcraft steam and back.

    - You will no longer be able to pump lava in the Nether with the default pump from BuildCraft. You will have to use the Ender-Thermic Pump from the newly-added Extra Utilities, which is nicer to the server. You can also use the Advanced Pump from GregTech, if you really want to.

    - The world generation will change significantly, because we removed ExtraBiomesXL and added Biomes O' Plenty instead. We have copied over the biome and block IDs of similar biomes and blocks, so biomes like Mountain Ridges and Wastelands should be preserved fine.

    - HarvestCraft will be removed, because it was a bit annoying to have. We have installed the mod UsefulFood as a sort of a replacement.

    - This change is not our work, but I thought I should mention it anyway. Electronic Circuits will require refined iron plates instead of ingots. But you won't neccessarily need a Plate Bending Machine for that; you can also use the new hammers in GregTech to create one plate from two ingots.

    - We are attempting to enable Turtles, but nerf them to make them less griefy. If this works out well, then yay!

    - Matter Fabricators should not have a capped input rate anymore in 1.5.

    - Iridium Plates will not require an Implosion Compressor anymore. You will have to use a Railcraft Rolling Machine, though. The recipe has also been changed to use Iridium Plates (plate-bended ones) instead of ingots. Not confusing at all!

    - The Fossils/Archeology mod, which was supposed to add dinosaur pets, will be removed. The mod was buggy and not that useful.

    - If it hasn't already happened in the latest 1.4.7 update, then it will happen the next update. I'm talking about the much asked for UU recipe for Rubies. Enjoy.

    - Arcane Bores will be disabled properly in 1.5, since we are then actually able to do that. Only one active Arcane Bore can cause massive CPU usage.

    - We will switch to the Thermal Expansion way of generating Copper, Tin and Silver. This is a bit different than what you might be used to: Copper will generate between Y-levels 40 and 75, Tin will generate between levels 20 and 55, and Silver will generate between levels 5 and 30, usually together with Lead.

    - Because we are that evil, Creepers will stalk players in the future.

    - The recipe of Factorization Barrels will be disabled, in favor of the more optimized barrels from the Barrels Mod.

    - The Paintball mod will be removed, due to some very annoying bugs and not being used that much. If you really want guns, use Muskets or Blunderbusses from Balkon's WeaponMod.

    - The range of ME Wireless Access points will be increased to, well, pretty much infinite. This makes Logistics Pipes even more obsolete and inferior to Applied Energistics, so we might remove it. EDIT: It will definitely be removed in 1.5. If you still used LP instead of AE for some weird reason, now would be a good time to start switching over.

    - The addon for ComputerCraft that added the peripheral cables will be removed, as the same functionality is now in ComputerCraft itself. You will have to edit your programs to adapt to this, but it shouldn't be difficult.

Along with these changes, a lot of new and fun things have been added like MineFactory Reloaded, Tinkers' Construct, Natura, ExtraTrees, OpenPeripheral, RedLogic, Advanced Reactors, Extra Utilities and much more :)

This list might be updated if I forget something.

How's THAT for a first announcement?

Well I've already done an update myself. Beat that!

But yes. A lot of things have changed, and much more is still in motion. So look forward to 1.5 and 1.6 a few months after that (maybe, no promises just yet)

When you say "HarvestCraft will be removed, because it was a bit annoying to have." Could you elaborate on that?

Well besides the fact, that maintaining HarvestCraft was annoying thanks to all the subparts of it, the seeds were bugging us too. We decided to replace it with Useful Food, that looks better and is better in almost every case. So yeah.

Also with HarvestCraft, the recipes were so complex for just food. This is much better!

I don't like the idea of trying to make logistics pipes obsolete, considering AE was made as an addon for it, it can extend AE systems still.

Applied Energistics was made as a standalone mod to LogisticsPipes, I have no idea why people think it's an addon.
This was taken when the http://ae-mod.info page
Nonetheless, we will be removing LogiPipes in 1.5/1.6 since all people really used it for was the infinite range item requesting and now with paths changes, we have that in AE.

If not an addon, but the two mods were made to be used together. Will the range be multi-dimentional?

Not they weren't. All the have is integration, that's all. But if I had to guess, probably not. Since the Wireless remote requires power in 1.5, I have no clue how it would scale out if it was dimensional.

    3 things:
Firstly, I really hope that everyone is excited about 1.5. A LOT of work went into all of this. You all may not notice my contributions to the 1.5 pack, as they are microscopic, but all of it is worth it in the end.
Secondly, why do I still not have a banner for Build Team???
Thirdly, if anyone notices any lag (client-side) please send me a message with a thorough description of the event and I will do my best to get it resolved and push a client update.

    2. Because, I said you had to ask sk to join it. Not to download all the mods, get whitelisted and join the server.

Can the Supplier Pipe be emulated with AE?

Kinda but it's easier to use an enderchest with gate.

Nope. You'll have to figure that out on your own.

Yeah, would be easy enough to do but idk how it would do lag-wise compared to something more optimized for the job...

haha, you shouldn't worry about that. If anything you'll find a better way then using supplier pipes, since they were so bad on the server.
