    So, it TURNS OUT, the New York mirror for Alice (ny.alice.sk89q.com) stopped being a mirror because I mixed up IP addresses, and therefore ny.alice.sk89q.com was the exact same as alice.sk89q.com, meaning that it didn't fix any latency problems at all.

    But now I have fixed it! It may take up for a day for the change to take effect for you. You can check to see whether the change has taken effect for you by going to http://ny.alice.sk89q.com and seeing if the page says "Hi"

    If you are in the United States, I recommend connecting with the address ny.alice.sk89q.com (instead of alice.sk89q.com), which should give most people a better connection to the server.

    Also, I still have to re-enable mining lasers and stuff this week. And read 40 PMs. Annnd push a client update.

    Wouldn't it be a good to have more then 3 people to help push updates, cause then if people go MIA *cough*path*cough*pyro*cough* we wouldn't have to wait on you and joe for the updates.

    And the mining lasers and wands are logged when they get taken, I hope?

    All the mods in the pack have been up to date for quite some time, but I can't push client updates so we have to wait on sk for that. It was nice having others to help for that short time though...

    Yeah, the only reason i mention it. Is because there are quite a few mods that are a bit behind on the latest versions, like enderchests, gravisuite, thaumicbees ect ect (as well as all the ones tonius suggested to be updated). I would be happy to help, since i've got a lot of free time, but yeah, it might be a good diea to wait for pyro and path. ButYeah, it was nice to be able to annoy someone else about updating the mods other then sk and you joe, for once :p

  7. Hey sk89q, Is there anyway you can make a mirror for people in australia (alice.sk89q.com gives me a x as a ping speed and ny.alice.sk89q.com give me only 1 bar) so its really annoying because i can only join at certain times with the such slow speed D:

    It costs money to keep all of these services running, ya know.... So if you want to keep this server free to play on, might want to just try to live with the problems you are having. Besides, a mirror for people in OZ won't really help because there is really only a few in/out pipes for internet there, so you might just be stuck with the same service speeds anyways. (I would only expect improvements in ping of about 15%)

    Do you have any idea how much it is to put up a mirror? Around $3 which is prolly cheaper in Austrialia. I *might* actually setup a few mirrors in a few days

    I'm in Australia too, and get 350ms to normally, and 250ms to the NY mirror. The mirror only helps because it's ping to the real Alice server is less than the 100ms difference (I estimate based on previous information 70-80ms) due to your ISP's routing choices. As hsun324 stated
    In actual fact, there is only one 'pipe' out of Australia at the moment - The Southern Cross Cable - which connects Australia with the United States at about the point labelled "You" in sk's diagram - hence the reason for the NY mirror's improvement;

    As fast as 4G is, jitter makes gaming impossible. Use a fixed-line connection before complaining :p

  13. Im getting one some time half way through the year :D I havent had one since 4-5 years ago, because Telstra could not be stuffed upgrading our local wires, Oh well, NBN has taken place near me so its gonna be worth it (i hope :/)

  14. Like your profile picture btw :p

    I feel your pain. Thanks to Telstra, my fixed line connection gets congested a lot of the time. No matter how much I complain they aren't willing to do anything. Glad the NBN's near you. Shame I won't get it for another 8 years.

    That isn't really an option for me. Will be boarding though once I head to Uni (will likely have the NBN or $20/month unlimited ADSL2+).

  18. Im sad now, Did some research on NBN, Its actually in the neighbourhood next to my neighbourhood, Meaning I dont have affect of it for a few years, oh well, Internet may be faster :/
