Hey SK, I was wondering if there is a chance you could add the Soul Shards mod? But it it is too OP, maybe "nerf" it? Or maybe only able to get the shard from a hard quest that involves killing a boss or something of the sorts?
I would personally love to have this mod added, even ifyou could only get them from a very hard the quest. I think the only problem would be that sk himself wants it. But he knows how bad it can effect the server, but mind you, I think it would be better then traveling thousands of blocks on a frame machine to bring spawners back and group them into a little area.
Once you have the soul shard you are able to lag the server with constant use of the spawner. Not cool. Now, you already can move spawner with frames - but it's hard to do so not everybody would like to do that. Which is cool, because less lag.
Give me 1 lvl 5 shard zombie spawner, 3 healing splash potions and I would hit lvl 30 in approximately 90 seconds, IMHO way way way over powered for this server. I do not care how hard a quest or how much you pay. Lvl 5 shard spawners do not need anyone near them to keep spawning, it would only take 1 person accidentally leaving it on and then their one base would make the whole server hit max mobs, not to mention the lag. To make this plugin viable, the mod would have to be completely and entirely nerfed to the point that there would be no point in having the plugin, other then being able to make your own regular spawner.
in the soul shards mod the lvl 5 shard spawners can be turned off with redstone, but they also do not need a player near them to spawn mobs, so it would only take 1 person forgetting to mess with the whole server. In the end this boils down to two possibilities. The first is including the mod as is, which I do not see happening at all in any way shape or form. The second is heavily modding the mod, which again, I do not see happening in any way shape or form, as SK and the rest of the devs/staff have so much on their plate already, and dedicating that much time for such a simple change does not seem realistic in nature. Again, these are my honest, if not belligerent opinions. SK has already taken steps to prevent the making of automated blaze spawners in the nether, so I do not see him allowing the production of them in the over world, or any other spawners for that matter. If you want a grinder, you should do what I and many others have done. Use the tools provided to you to gather spawners in a central location for a grinder. It may be harder, it may be more work, it may not be as efficient, but that is the point of it, working hard for something that can provide something great. Not going out and right clicking a 5 spawners to have 1 really over powered spawner that will contribute to the stress of an already stressed server.
I saw Direwolf 20 make an overworld Blaze spawner in one of his videos. Just put it over water, turned it on and in a matter of minutes of just watching he had stacks and stacks of blaze rods. We shouldn't use this mod.
The only way I know to get water in the nether is UU matter, but the recipe for water source blocks seems to be disabled. I thought it was disabled to prevent blaze grinders.
Oh no! Not that dreaded word "EFFORT!" how horrible... Anyway, you can make any kind of farm without this mod, it's just a convenience.
For me Alice has always and will always be about massive scaling potential after a long tout of hard work. I'm getting pretty annoyed at the "MAKE EVERYTHING HARDER" drive that a few people are pushing so hard. It's removed a lot of the end-game items, crippled the usefulness of a ton of things to the point they aren't worth the time investment needed, and in my opinion at least, it's creating more stress on the server due to the larger amount of things we need to pump out and have running in order to reach the efficiency of old. This doesn't really have a relation to this particular mod in general but ah mah gawdh stahp.
its because they are rich, so dont want others to become richer by making it far harder to make anything. pretty logical, as I just got my first lappack... and have no lazuli. now I cant make my target of advanced lappack
Bullcrap. The only person who decides is sk, and he doesn't care about being rich or not... His intent was to make players have more playtime until they are in the endgame - which kinda works. Of course it's not perfect...
The main reason this mod is wanted is so people can gather spawners in one place this can already be done with frames, yes its hard i think it would be simpler to just code a plugin to harvest spawners rather then go get a mod, perhaps with a cost example: if i hold shift and mine a spawner an item is deducted and it drops in block form just an idea
It's not difficult... you just need more time until you are in the endgame. You don't have insta-kill mobs or heavy restrictions... hell, we even have the mining world now. And btw, there are also other servers, Kira
We could have a marvelous discussion on what constitutes "end-game", but it would be wasted time on my part to do so with you.
