Donator Perks - Way to better hardware?

As soon as SK would give perks to donators i would look for another server.
This can't be balanced and a community who is split in 2 kind of players sucks.

 

This would improve the number of donators on the server, but the concept of it just doesn't fit with how this server is. I might as well explain why(These are my opinions by the way):

I don't quite know what you mean by this, but if they are anything like Alchemy Bags from Equivalent Exchange it probably won't happen. When Sk first told us that Equivalent Exchange wasn't going to be included in Alice anymore famerdave and I offered to take the idea from Equivalent Exchange and make a separate mod with them, but he did not want them even when we offered to make them more expensive and lower the amount of bags you can get.

I strongly disagree with this suggestion because it would completely destroy the feel of the server for me. When I first joined this server I was greeted by a few of the moderators and I was puzzled by the fact that they did not have any special color or tag to indicate their ranking on the server because I had been on so many other servers where the players were split solely based upon their ranking; it was a pleasant surprise. Once people gain a title they begin to develop this false sense of power over the other players on the server and this creates a split in the community. Moderators, even, are not very different from the normal player currently and I enjoy that. If this was to be changed it would ruin the feel of skcraft for me.

This would be very overpowered...

Use an enderpearl or walk, get over it.

I believe all players will be getting this soon if I'm not mistaken.

It costs a few pieces of wood and some sticks, again, get over it.

As Cran said, don't think that you deserve to be playing on the fastest possible server without helping to make it be that way. Sk pays for this server himself and he doesn't expect anything in return, why should you?

I may have over-thought this completely, but I just wanted to get my opinion out there.

 

Ideas for donator benefits have been thrown around, but the general consensus is that nothing will be introduced that will change the style or flow of gameplay or the server itself (see teleports, tags, etc.). It would be nice to see more donations so we could look into more or better servers, but we shouldn't need to sacrifice the feel of the server for that.

 

I would donate for hats.

 

Yesterday, as we were talking about it on the server, people seemed to like my idea of Statues for every donator. If you want, you could assing more/bigger statues for higher donations.

 

That's an interesting idea... I also like the idea of early access to "beta servers" (new games, etc.) or something...

 

My 2 cents:

Small perks to encourage donation would be OK, but anything that impacts one player's ability to gather resources over others is a bad idea. Particularly on Vincent, I would find something like free teleports problematic. Donation rewards tend to devalue items, or in the case of something like place-able spawners, large groups of items.

I would suggest vanity items for donators. Things like hats, capes. Something like a donator's lounge or statues would be great too.

What about the ability to put a piece of glass on your head for a helmet? I remember doing that back in the days of hMod!

 

Dude NO.This is one of the ideas of the server,to have fun.Not split the community in two.If Sk adds donations MANY people will leave.
