Mod name: Fistprint scanner Mod description in your words: Another computercraft peipheral, yay! Basically, what this mod does is it adds a peripheral called the fistprint scanner which when right clicked by a player, it'll fire an event containing a unique pseudorandom identifer for that player. Can also be changed in the config so it returns the player's username. Why do you want it: I got something big planned for the server when it resets involving Computercraft, Immibis' Peripherals, and the HTTP API. This peripheral would also help me make my plan better. Why would it be useful to the server: Like I said ^, i got something big planned for the server using CC and this mod that other people can adapt as well. Sorry, this ain't much but I can't say more without letting the cat outta the bag. Is it ModloaderMP or MP compatible: Yes, 1.4.5 Mod link: http://www.computercraft.info/forums2/index.php?showtopic=6634&pid=55975&unlockUserAgent=1
is it a universal locking system that is cheaper than making all teh disk card and stuff which can be taken?!?
No, it's secure. Anyone with a floppy disk and the slightest knowledge on how I encode say, a disk identification card, can spoof their identity. Why is it we have fingerprint scanners in real life? Is it so we can have a "universal locking system that is cheaper than making all teh disk card and stuff which can be taken"?
Good idea, it would be like personal safes, but I hope with more configuration, or it would be useless to take that mod
yeah, that peripheral can be used for an RP2 quarry system toggled by the OWNER right clicking. also, what would deployers do with this?
Nothing... what would a deployer do if a chest were in front of it? And that falls back to the locks idea, which is while a practical and popular use for a peripheral like this, not what I had in mind...
a crafting network only usable by one person >.< I mean, who wants someone coming and ordering all of your stuff into their chests?
agreed. because having someone steal your quarry with pipes/redstone is gonna be ANNOYING!!! hmm, true... but who wants to claim a 64x64 area? thats over 4000 blocks...
Thaumcraft 3.0.2 updated today! http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1585216-thaumcraft-302-updated-2212013/
Player detectors that fire events with player names are already on the server. Making pseudorandom identifiers is not a very difficult task.
Does the player detector detect who ever entered the range and record it down? Think of making a nooby stuff palce
No, its nearly exactly the same as what gk had proposed. It only triggers when someone right clicks on it.
